Device not detected???

After using the USB port inside my console to connect my phone for charging and the Android auto for 5 years now I get a message that reads something like " DEVICE NOT SUPPORTED ". Will not charge or connect. Got a new cord of the highest quality I could find. No improvement. The port on the dash works fine. Why will the port in the console no longer work? Any help would be great. Thanks.

maybe try cleaning the USB port/blowing it out if you havent already. I get this error sometimes and if I reboot the head unit with the tazer, it solves the issue.

I get that error off and on if my thumb drive is there. Reinsert and we are good so I moved it to the dash and no issue. Something is not quite right with the connection from the console. Would love a way to upgrade it and make it reliable.

How old is the USB cord? Swap it out.

No updates lately. Phone works fine in the dash port. New cord. I have had this problem with the console before and it mysteriously goes away. Just trying to solve the problem for good.

I will try the radio reset soon. I will blow out the port with some computer air also.

The question about updates was asked because android based phones have issues connecting if they aren’t current on updates. It’s always that or an old or cheap charging cable.

I have a miniature thumb drive plugged in the console that has nearly my entire music collection on it. That's a little over 1,800 individual songs in AAC format (because mp3 sucks). It is barely larger than the part that plugs in. It is basically part of the vehicle now, unlike my phone that I might not bring with me. Is there better tech that can do the same or better?

Have you tried restarting the phone itself? I’ve had that come up on iPhone before but I just restart the phone and it works fine. It has to do with communication between the 2 programs.

I'm also having this issue . Bought jeep new in 23 worked fine for about 1000 Miles never worked again . I have tried new cords , reset , restart , even iphone , android . even took to dealerships . Thay said it was working but no . I even called multiple dealerships to see if this was an issue ( Most said they never herd if it ) The one on dash works just fine !.
Any help with this would be nice .

I still get the message every now and then. It’s usually either the phone needs a reset or the radio does. I haven’t it had it not come back yet. If it’s a ‘23 take it to the dealership and show them exactly how you plug in and what it tells you. May not even need an appointment for that. Just show up and tell the service guy to check this out and what am I doing wrong.
