Didn’t see anything about this, so I’m changing mine while upgrading to a CSF radiator

Remove harmonic balance cover, 4 10mm nuts and bolts

Tensioner is a 15mm to release the belt

then you have pull the alternator from the motor a bit, 4 15mm nuts and bolts

then you can slide in the new belt. I always uses a gates “green” fleet runner belt when possible. This comes from my old supercharger street car days, they are the strongest

Based off years of data, the OEM belt is good for at least 10 years and 150,000 miles. I'm not discouraging anyone from changing it sooner, but I thought I'd let everyone know what we've found. The Gen 2 and Gen 3 EcoDiesel use the same belt.

nice work, great write up! How many miles on your belt and how did it look?

We just changed the belt on the LJ. The only tool needed was a 3/8" ratchet to move the tensioner - and now I want to do terrible things to the engineer who decided that removing the damned alternator was necessary to route a serpentine belt.

Here's my belt at 9.5 years and 125,824 miles. They say that towing is hard on belts. And trust me, this truck has done a tone of towing. We've towed the travel trailer through many states including CA, AZ, NV, NM, UT, CO, TX, NE, OK, KS, IL, MO, AR, LA, MS, AL, GA, and FL. Plus, the 2015 Ram EcoDiesel is our work truck, so oftentimes has a dump trailer or equipment trailer behind it. The belt looked good, but if you put a sharp bend in it, then you can see some of the micro-cracks.
