I have a '22 Rubicon Diesel with 22k miles. It taken me through 8 states and a week long solo trip through Canada and first time ever having an issue with it.
I was leaving the store on Saturday and when i went to go from a stop sign, it went and about 100 feet after it started to make a rattling noise. Thought maybe it was my transmission, so popped it in N and then P and back to D and it started to rattle/studder and then died. Once it stopped on the side of the road i tried to start it back up and it was turning over but wasn't starting. Thought may be the battery was dying and hooked up my jumper box to it, but it had enough power to still crank over but never actually start. Then i guess i tried to start it one too many with fails and the system warning stated that it went into starter protection mode. Once i got my brother to give me a tow to the parking lot and out of the road, we checked the fuel and there was no water in it. It was pouring rain here in CA on saturday so maybe thought it had to do something with that but all my electronics were fine and no CEL or other lights were on. Also pulled the gas line to the engine and cranked it over and gas was squirted out, so it seems like it was getting gas or at least the system was priming itself. But still nothing. While waiting for the tow truck, i got some def as it was about 1/4 full and got the warning to fill up or it won't start in 310 miles, figured i would at least remove that possibility out of the equation, but still no luck. The engine would turn over but not start.
Tow truck driver tried to start it when they got there about an hour after the whole deal started, and nothing. Same thing, it would crank over fine but not start. He said sounded like the fuel pump. I got it to the dealer and of course they were closing early since it was NYE. Dropped it off and they called yesterday morning saying that they probably won't be able to look at it for at least a couple of days..... yay.
I know that there is the CP4 pump recall, but my jeep isn't listed on the recall. I picked it up on April 27, 2022 and it sounds like i am a victim of the CP4 failure.
