Now if we had confirmation that the "Diesel Specific" offering was more than just the fit issue with the reservoirs OR if there is a difference with the valving........... If they can't give us an honest answer about the spring rates, doubt we could get an honest answer about the shocks.

I mistyped, I cannot find that theycare diesel specific, so I have to assume they are gas only..

Why can't the shock makers be more specific and say gad or diesel, even if they don't offer a diesel shock at least say gas only... how difficult is that

The Falcons have to be a different part # to fit the fenders because of the 90° piggyback resi mounting. I don't see why they couldn't discontinue the "Gas" version and use the same shock with different internals.

I think the real problem is that no manufacturer has anything different for the diesel models and they would lose sales if the told us the gas stuff didn't really play well on the diesel models.

This is why I love the transparency of @Clayton Off Road in giving specs to their springs and even manufacturing us an offering in the first place.......I we choose wrong, it's on us. The rest of these manufacturers are just selling us a 1" taller spring in the lighter rate?

Dobinson's tried to deceive me into buying what they had for a spring, but I didn't fall for it........

On the res shocks, but the tube shocks they don't differentiate

Probably the same then....... They physically fit the same on either model without the 3.0 series 90° resi.

Fitment isn't the issue, 400lbs of extra weight from the diesel is an issue

I think you need to raise you budget or lower your expectations. No other way around this.
Right now I'm thinking the rustys for 1700 and another 800 for mono shocks either fox or falcon..... this thread wasn't about trying to find a lift, but about diesel specific shocks, no chance I will spend over 3k on a lift without shocks, that nuts

Again, nobody I have seen has a "diesel specific" shock except me (custom 2.5 Fox's and soon ECliks) and Teraflex except the valving inside the Falcons is still questionable whether it's any different or not.

The internal valving on our Eco Diesel fitment shocks for both JL and JT is in fact different front and rear, especially so in the front. Without getting into deep details the valve shim stack on the front shocks is valved to be slightly faster reacting, and a bit more on the firm side to help control and stabilize the Jeep with the extra weight of the engine. Also, the fitment is specific too, for the front shocks have a physically shorter reservoir/piggyback to clear the aux battery and washer fluid bottle. The rear shocks are tweaked in length to help ensure clearance for the DEF tank.
