Just had my HPFP recall done. The dealer provided card states no more than 20percent bio-diesel. This is turning out to be a pain as every gas station in the San Diego are seems to run high bio-diesel blends. Does anyone know of a local station that has 20% or less and how concerned should I be if I have to run higher percentages? I used to change my fuel filter every other oil change and now will be doing it every oil change.

Your ecodiesel required no more than 20% biodiesel fuel (B20) even before the pump recall, so that's nothing new. The big change is now there's a timeframe that you're supposed to use up all the biodiesel between 6-20% in your tank (B6-B20), you must use it all within 30 days from when you fueled.

From reading posts from other people in SoCal, I believe you may be misidentifying the fuel you have available there. What sounds to be common out your way is renewable diesel (R99 or similar). If your pumps are showing R99 (or similar), then you're perfectly good to go as renewable diesel is equivalent to standard non-bio number 2 diesel. What you cannot use is any fuel labelled as anything higher than B20 -- the B versus R prefix on the label is the kicker.

Awesome, I was just looking at some of those and I think I will be going to the R99. Thanks for pointing me in that direction. Think that solves the concern.

My CA ecodiesel loves R99. It really is chemically different than transesterified biodiesel
