Zero you can do besides taking the motor apart and cleaning it. You can run additives and keep up on maintenance but that is pretty much it.
If it got to the point in the video then yes would need to take it apart. That got that bad because of oil in the intake from possible turbo seal leak. Even the PCV would not put that much oil in the system but I would still run a catch can.

If you start to do the right things before hand you can have a mint intake system.

I'll need to make a new thread on what needs to be done one day.

Green Diesel Engineering had this argument with the EPA. He argued that his tune can meet emissions requirements without EGR. The EPA could only point back to the written law which says you must have EGR and EGR must operate in certain conditions.

Interestingly, the new 3.0 Duramax doesn't have EGR due to the latest generation of technology.
If I remember Keith from GDE would have to use a lot more DEF to compensate.

I search and could not find info on a new 3.0 Duramax that no longer has an EGR? Can you link it, would love to see what they did.

My Ram 3500 has been maintained better than most. I can tell you there is very minimal you can do. The whole design is to recycle and burn off anything and store it in the vehicle.

Actually, I don't think it's in production yet. I think they have the technology, but they need the EPA to approve it.

Regular maintenance is great but that isn't what I'm talking about.

You would need to control oil in the intake. High quality Low Noack oil, catch can, no bad turbo oil seals. Need to cool the turbo down by idling. Need a Ester based group 4/5 oil that handles the heat and seals better.

You need cetane. It hard with the low grade diesels to go from 40 to 47 with an additive. I have Renewable diesel here so get 70+ cetane and much less soot. Costco has top top tier which would help if you can get renewable.

You need a fuel borne catalyst additive. Used in the big rigs a lot as it cleans and lowers the burning point of soot down by 300F. I have Redline 85+ Catalyst after it's done Im going to FBC brand which is the best one out there and the most used by big rigs forum guys. Less regens and cleaner DPF.

Water/methanol or just water. This is a game changer. This steam cleans the hole intake all the way out the tail pipe. It look MINT MINT new after regular use. Lowers temps and EGTs!. Installs easy with the AFE boost tubes with the 1/8" ports on the piping. Im going to use my windshield wiper reservoir my self. You also use les DEF because it cools so well and makes less NOX. Going with Snow Performance with the 52MM gauge that fits in my banks grab handle lower pod.

To make a good thread would take me a long time but one day hope to do it and put together something with evidence based copy and paste and links on the total approach. The nice thing is also you get a boost in MPG as well with these.

One other things were lucky that our EGR is post DPF. Helps a lot with less soot in the intake.

Exactly what I said but a page long explanation.

I have 440,000 miles on my Ecodiesel with no catch can lol.

I deleted it years ago, forgot all about all of it until topics like these catch my eye on the internet.

I've replaced an oil cooler and the turbo coolant hose. After they broke.

That's it, no mystery oil, no super filter, Rotella T6 every 10k, whatever filter is on sale, fuel filter once per year, drive...

Runs WVO almost 90% of the time as well.

like i said before little to nothing you can do besides adding additives to the fuel and oil with Great maintenance. its the designs of all the new emissions systems and its just not Jeep. Ram is having a hell of a time and the Fuel dilution that i have had it would make your catch can explode.

Lol you said " Exactly what I said but a page long explanation. " Were is the page long explanation that is exactly what I said that you said? LOL

Now your saying very little can be done which is not true but that is fine if you believe that.

As far a fuel dilution is could be related to idling, tuning changes putting in to much fuel or other factors. Is your truck stock and do you idle a lot? Do you have start stop on your truck? Lake speed Jr discussed and showed threw lab work that having and using start stop made a big difference in fuel dilution and wear.

Fuel dilution is from frequent regens. I proved it over 5k miles. I was gaining 1-2 quart per 1000 miles.

That is very high level of fueling. What year truck and is this Ram Cummins or EcoDiesel?

Do you have a gauge too see when it Regens? If so how often was it regening and how many miles on the DFP/Truck?

Ram 2022 3500 S.O. my regens were down to 50mile intervals.

Things replaced. Truck up to current recalls and flashes.

Air filter.
Map sensor.
Ccv filter.
Pcv filter.
Hpfp leak test.
Injector power balance test.
Dpf replacement.
Injectors pulled and set out for testing.
Rocker arms and push rods replaced.
Hpfp leak test again.
Egr inspected
Turbo inspected
Intercooler inspected.
3 weeks of live testing and recording.
Injectors replaced.
Cam and lifters pulled and inspected.
Main bearings inspected.
Another Dpf.

I've had 3 different star case numbers and special mechanics out twice to look at my truck.

Dealership and I have figured out it must be a program issue and its causing my truck to over fuel. Like I said not much you can do.

My air filter and oil changed every 5k and fuel filters every 10k. I ran fuel and oil additives.
