I see you’re in Houston. The discount tire located at 13494 Northwest Fwy installed my 315/70/17 Kenda Klevars no issues or hiccups.

Stock 7.5” wide rim.

Has anybody had any luck with Discount tires mounting the 35x12.50x18 or 17'' tires on their stock rims?
I don't need to hear about how the rim is too small for the tire blah, blah, blah lol. Just curious if anyone has
had theirs installed.
I will be going with an aftermarket rim soon but wanted to wait a while before spending more cash at the moment.
To buy the Lift+Tires+Rims all at the same time almost requires you to take out a second mortgage.

So I went to Discount tires site and entered my Overland as a Rubicon model.
I then put toyo at iii 35x12.50x18 in my cart and they let me check out and buy them.
If I put my Overland in and try to buy the same tires I could not check out. I got a message that said remove and shop tires that fit.
Are the Rubicon rims wider than the Overlands? I know the Overland rims are 18" and the Rubicon's are 17".

Same width.
That's what I thought also. So maybe Discount has their head up their butt distinguishing between the two models?
I buy all my tires at Discount because their pricing and service are top notch.
I'm going to take my Jeep in tomorrow to another store and tell them it's a Rubicon and see if they will put them on.

Never had any issues at all over multiple tire mounting/dismounting jobs. Same size 35 12.50 17 on stock Willys wheels. Then dismounted and remounted on fuel aftermarket wheels. Only thing they said was we would have made a better deal if you woulda bought these from us. Which they probably would have. I also think their web site is somewhat difficult to navigate. Seems to me there is a selection to continue shopping without entering a vehicle or to shop by tire size only. It then allows you to navigate and add to cart whatever you want. But discount tire is and always has been great to deal with.

no issue at all. It’s in their charts isn’t it?

Probably an issue of the person looking up the exact vehicle and stock wheel combination. It will throw up an error on their website…and all the others that I’ve seen…about that size tire being a mismatch/improper size.

If you get someone that “gets it,” they’ll see that the factory wheels are within the allowable width for the tires. That’s not getting into possible rubbing though (YMMV there, but most folks say 35’s will fit).

Even my 315/70-17’s (a bit smaller than the tires discussed here) will show as not working for my JTR if I just look it up by the vehicle.

On the bright side, you will "save" money by only having to mount/balance once.
Jeep logic.

Search the tire you want on their website and check the specs. I am looking for a 35x12.5 17 and I found that the recommend minimum wheel size listed for each tire I was looking at was 7.5". I called my local shop and they verified this. I have also seen where D/T has posted on here that they will mount 12.5" on a 7.5" wheel due to being listed in some DOT (I think) listing as safe.

They installed 37 12.5 17 tires on my stock wheels with no issue. They got a chart they go by, here is discount tires chart. If it falls within those guidelines they will mount them.

Those tires will rub on a overland on the Lower control arms, you don't have the wide track axles like Rubicon, Mojave and Max Tow's have. That may be why they will not mount them. You will need wheel spacers at least to keep from rubbing on stock wheels

I just went to a local independent tire shop to get mine mounted. No questions, no problems.

I may try DT to mount my new Yokohama 37”. I didn’t think they would mount something that large! On a side note, anyone looking for very slightly used 37” MT with 3k on them? ? too loud for my taste ??‍♂

Good morning @Larry1962us

First and foremost, I apologize we didn't do a better job explaining where our tire to rim width recommendations come from. I understand you made the pivot to wider 17-inch wheels, however wanted to take a minute to clear up the confusion to what we will mount.

Tires are designed to flex in certain areas of the shoulder/sidewall which is where rim width comes into consideration. When a tire is pinched or stretched on a wheel that is too narrow or too wide, it's forced flex where it is not designed to do so. Due to this, and with safety always at the forefront, Discount Tire follows the US-TRA guidelines (Tire & Rim Association) for safe tire to rim width pairings.

With that in mind, we will install/mount the following popular JT tire sizes on these rim width ranges:

LT315/70R-17 (7.5 - 11)
35x12.50R-17 (7.5 - 11.5)
37x12.50R-17 (7.5 - 11.5)
37x13.50R-17 (8.5 - 12.5)

LT285/75R-18 (7 - 10)
LT295/70R-18 (7 - 10)
LT325/65R-18 (9 - 12)
35x12.50R-18 (8.5 - 12)
37x12.50R-18 (7.5 - 11.5)
37x13.50R-18 (8.5 - 12.5)

With the factory Overlander wheels being 18x7.5, we would recommend the 285/75R-18 or 295/70R-18 for near 35-inch options on the this particular wheel.

I"ll also note that these rim width ranges are for LT and High Flotation tires. P-Metric/SL can differ.

I hope this helps!
