Finally got time to work on a door cart. Overall I wanted it to support 3 configurations:

- Front doors only with or without Freedom Panels
- All doors with or without Freedom Panels
- All doors and roof with or without Freedom Panels

And it had to fit in a narrow spot in the garage. After researching a bunch of current options I made some plans and got started.

At first I seriously considered steel, but decided on lumber due to cost.

Did some testing of the design and found I needed a bit more space between the doors on the cart. I was also happy that the width was stable enough to hold a door without the other one on the cart.

My plan was to have a cart for the front doors and cart for the back.

I added some 1/4" foam, 4" casters from Amazon and additional bracing. The front door cart has the additional spots for the Freedom Panels so that I can pull just that cart out when leaving the rear doors on.

The carts hold the doors quite well and are easy to roll in and out of the garage.

And finally the carts can be latched together to move all the doors together AND can store the roof on top.

When it's loaded up I can leave it at the back of the drive or roll it into the garage. Pretty happy with the way it came together.

And here's the 'as built' plans if others want to give them a try. I'd love to see how other folks evolve and improve the ideas.

EDIT: See the later post for the file with dimensions!

I may have to build a version of this. :like:
I don't have a garage so finding a safe place for truck parts can be a challenge.

Great idea

Exactly! If I don't have room in the garage I'm thinking a good tarp over the whole setup will be weatherproof enough. I might need to paint the wood for that but you could go with pressure treated for just a little more cost.

That’s pretty cool man. I wondered how I’d store all of that. Does the rear roof portion fit in the bed sideways? Always wondered that too. It’s been raining in FL so I haven’t been able to experiment myself.

So does the roof fit in the bed? I think so but not sure it'd ride well back there. It's a pretty awkward shape. Let us know if you try it.

Thanks for sharing! What was the cost?
Good question. Here's a rough breakdown...

Casters - 2 sets@$39 each ~ $78
Latches - $11
Barrel bolts - $8
2x4s - 9@$3.65 each ~ $33
2x6s - 2@$5.95 each ~ $12

So somewhere around $142 or so.

The foam, screws, bolts and lags where all just stuff I had on hand.

Oh and I did snag a few extra bungees, so maybe add another $10 for those.
