Do our trucks get regular software updates through the air, or are they done through other means (or not at all)?

The missive below describes problems that are surely software bugs - I’m trying to figure out if they’d be fixed by an update. Or maybe, they were caused by an update

In an earlier thread, I asked about the erratic operation of my truck’s backup camera zoom.

The night before last, I head out and there’s no sound from car play. No sound from radio either. Then I get a light on the dash that says adaptive cruise control is malfunctioning. So I hit the adaptive cruise control button - the radio comes on and Apple play begins working, but I still have the malfunction message about adaptive cruise control.

I stop to pick up a friend, turn off the truck, exit and lock it. I get back in like I’m just heading out. All the error messages are gone, car play is working correctly and oh by the way, backup zoom is working too.

Today as I back up to a trailer, back up zoom is once again fubar. I turn it off, back on and zoom is working again.

Should I be seeking an update, or a trade-in?

The cellular equipped head units are capable of receiving OTA updates. They don't happen very often. The other components have to be updated by the dealer, and that only happens when directed by Jeep while doing repairs.

Issues that pop up and then go away with a restart have been reported by many. The head unit and computers are on all the time. Sometimes they just need a reboot. Odd issues will also pop up when the batteries get low, especially when nearing replacement time.

I was told by a Jeep service department that the system updates on a random basis via satellite. My system seemed to be failing and acting erratic and they said I apparently disrupted the changes in process and to just park it outside and let it resend and install them. I did and it fixed the issue but that was when it was new and now sure if still doing so.
