do these trucks break down a lot?

I bought my mojave on 22nd of April. took it back 23rd. havnt seen it since. I took it back to address some sort of fluid leak. I thought it was from transfer case. I just called to ask about eta and was told "next friday, he Ok'd the repair of some other things. so that when I got it back everything would be great" ...what that means or what that is I dont know. I asked for detailed receipt when its done for my records. im not paying a dime for the work but I still need to know what was done.

ive gone from angry to wondering if this is a start of a nightmare i will want out of pretty quickly. I ordered some wheels yesterday. I think I am going to cancel that.

is this a regular thing? something breaks and it takes weeks or months to fix?

In the diesel section. There is one with over 200,000 miles on it. The only problem was the oil cooler failed. Still going strong.

I have 153,468 water pump went out at 118k .

1.) No, they do not break down a lot. The reason people think that about any given vehicle is because those with an issue are always louder than those without, even though those without heavily outnumber those with.

2.) I don't know what some of these "maybe a Jeep isn't for you" comments are getting at, almost like we need to live with issues? But having a good relationship with your dealer to get any issue corrected is crucial no matter what vehicle you get. And any make or model can and will have issues as well, and whether it's a Jeep or not they all deserve to be fixed.

3.) Don't get in your own head about it. You found an issue, and they're correcting the issue. That's not a signal of issues to come, it simply is what it is. Feel confident that it's being fixed and get excited to enjoy it!

Depends on who you ask. My 21 JTR had lots of issues. 2 engines, 4 transmissions, 4 power steering pumps, leaky back window all within the first 70k kms. After that, it ran pretty good. I earned the most unlucky guy around award for good reasons. It was the last jeep I’d ever own too, I told myself, but then that truck met its fate on a long dark highway meeting head on with a moose and that prompted the buying of my second one, the 23 JTR, the second last Jeep I’ll ever own.

My situation was an extreme case of what no one else had to go through but you learn how to manage what you have and learn what interests you. Some people bail for the smallest glitches and I felt it just needed to be rebuilt to have a great truck.

I don’t know what was so wrong with the 21 but the 23 is night and day different.

Waterpumps generally should be replaced every 100k miles along with belts and thermostat. "Preventative maintenance". But I'm sure you already know this :P

My wife's 2018 Toyota Rav water pump went out at about 8 years and 36000 miles.Nothing is perfect.
