There is a silver sticker in your door jam with a "MDH" code for the Month, Day and Hour it was built.
Month, Day, and HOUR?? 😂
I’m screwed… mine was built on a Friday night at 11pm.
011923. (2024 Mojave)

I wonder when shift change occurs?? 😆

One thing to keep in mind - a Jeep isn't built all in the same plant by the same people on the same day.
frame is sourced in another building, another company on another date.
Axles come from Dana - not Jeep.
Body comes from another vendor, built in another building
Then there's paint,
then assembly where the dash, seats and other interior parts go in, the grill goes on, door latches and handles and more. So some of it may have been built on Tuesday, some on Wednesday (maybe BY Wednesday), and so on.
Then if you ordered spray in bed liner and certain other things, it goes to another place for that, and back again.

Even in the past, a car wasn't "built in a day".

Interesting all of this still continues to this day - do his dying day, my father insisted the government and oil companies killed the guy who created the 40 mpg carburetor and such things, back in the 1950s.
This goes in the same book, IMO.

I leave my keys in the ignition, well now that I have a Jeep I guess the cup holder
😳 Wow……. Do you live in West Virginia where the banjo’s play?😂

Sorry….😆

We don’t live in a crime infested area at all but….. We keep our shit locked up.
I live in a nice neighborhood…and everyone has cameras everywhere. Most of the crime are porch pirates and kids checking your car doors. If they find open doors- they’ll rummage around for cash, and/or anything valuable.

Funny…the previous house/neighborhood we lived in….. It was a long day on the airsoft field and we were too tired to unpack. I forgot to lock it……. Someone got in it overnight and stole my ipod Classic and our airsoft rifle (that looked like an AR). They must’ve discovered the AR was an airsoft gun, because they ditched it out the window two blocks away. 🤣

You made me laugh when you mentioned your father thought there was collusion between the government and car manufactures about the 40 mpg carburetor. My father had the same idea about tires. He always said the tire manufacturers and the government don't want tires that can go 100k miles (they got about 15k to 20k at the time) or so since that would harm the big tire manufacturers and they would lose money.

May they RIP (but it is still funny).

And exactly why am I concerned about "more power"?????? Why does it matter?
I don't race it.
I don't auto-cross it.
I don't do road rallies and try to beat the other guys' times.
I don't win trophies for being first across the intersection.
What would I do with more power? To what end? What gain? Show? rack up tickets?
Impress people as I burn the tires away from a stop light? Beat the other guys through traffic to prove something?
Why do so many care? What is gained?
It hauls my stuff just fine in all sorts of weather and terrain. It handles loads, trailers, etc. actually just as easily as my Chevy did - and a whole lot better than my Ford's 351 ever did.
So what do I do with the extra horsepower? Brag about it?
For me and to answer it simply, it’s fun to have more power. 😁

I agree. This Jeep has PLENTY of power for me. Almost 300hp from a naturally aspirated V6. Engines have come A LONG way. I wish they'd focus on fuel economy from here on out.

And while those Hellcat Gladiators are cool, they are totally impractical for anybody but the most wealthy of individuals. Not only because of the price, but owners will have a very difficult time finding a shop that will work on them. They are more museum piece than they are daily drivers/off roader.

The only kind of engine "conversion" I'd be interested in would be a 4BT Cummins with 270 hp/600 lb ft of torque. They get excellent mileage, last forever and a day, and can be worked on with hand tools and zero computers. But the governments don't allow those anymore.

Finding a shop to work on hemis and hellcats is hard? It's not a Bugatti engine, any shop competent enough to work on a stock Jeep can work on one modified... with other stock FCA powertrains? I agree the hellcat is overkill, but a 5.7L or 6.4L is a much better fit for a truck. Low rpm torque and horsepower you don't need 6k rpm to get to. I don't trust the dealer to work on the stock 3.6L but they should be just as competent (or incompetent) with a 392. Not only is that a stock powertrain in other dodge/ram models, it is available in the JL, which is identical to the JT from the front seats forward. If that's too much to ask of your shop, I wouldn't trust them with an oil change.

No, finding a shop to work on a modified Frankenvehicle is hard. There is nothing factory about those rigs, and I doubt any dealership would touch them. That leaves independents, and most of those hate customs as well.

I would dare say the current line up of the basardised brand we call jeep is sticking with it tradition and might be the best yet
I'm just a glutten for punishment as this is luxury coming from the suzuki world

This statement is impractical……. 😉

As my mother used to say…. “You can’t take it with you” 😉

If you work hard & make responsible financial decisions in your lifetime, anyone can enjoy FUN & expensive Toys (and do it debt free).

A Hellcat Gladiator would be fun as hell…. Reminds me of *Farmtruck*. Looks like nothing, but will kick your ass!! My husband has a BMW M4 - so, we’re already equipped with plenty of horsepower. 😊 If I had money to burn…. I’d buy some land, build or buy a house with a 10 car garage. I’d have at least 5 different vehicles, a couple different boats, some ATV’s, & take lots of vacations.

The AMW kits aren't some shade tree Frankenstein build with missing wires/sensors that don't work/ custom pcm/ no obd2 connectivity or whatever else you're imagining. All the sensors are factory. The pcm is factory. The diagnostics and scan tools will all work the same as a factory 392 wrangler or hellcat challenger. I don't want the dealership to touch my stock powertrain so obviously I wouldn't let them anywhere near my v8 swap. AMW has a huge list of install affiliate shops...pretty sure any one of them would work on it even if they didn't do the install or you did it yourself. Now if you go with the bruiser LT4 swap I could see your argument, but even there any shop I'd be willing to let touch the thing after a $30k+ engine swap would obviously be capable and willing.

Sounds like excessive consumerism. If it works for you, great. I only buy what I need and use heavily.

I was the service manager for an independent shop for many years. Were you? Mitchell On Demand and Alldata, which all techs refer to, are not going to even have the option to select a Gladiator with a Hemi engine, so the moment a tech goes to pull up the vehicle he's working on, it's NO BUENO. I don't think you understand how shops work.

A lot more assuming going on there. No, I know of people who all but worked themselves to death, and did everything right, and things just didn't line up. Assuming "I did it so anyone can do it" is quite wrong. Ask half the country.

Yup.
Although I didn't really NEED a Jeep, it does meet my requirements nicely. There are excesses with it - but other features fit perfectly with my needs. I could have bought a cheaper truck for sure. But I blended my "I've always wanted one" with me absolute needs to haul and tow and get around even in deep snow, ice storms and where plows have not yet been (and to help me remove snow without triggering the pains of Reynaud''s and other factors)

You wouldn't even be able to buy wiper blades at AutoZone. 😆
