BAHAHAHAHA!!! I find it hilarious that this product exists.

"The person buying a Buick, usually is somebody that is in the CD category... "

Damn kids with their newfangled technology nowadays. I'm of the age group where I'd appreciate a good high end cassette deck.
I have a lot of discographies that I burned on to DVD's that I was able to download into my JKU. Would be nice to still have that option. Guessing I'll have to just keep some sort of external drive handy to patch into one of the USB ports.

No need. I ripped all of my CDs to mp3s a long time ago. Easy to transfer to my phone and blue tooth them.

Turned all mine into FLACs and tossed them on a flash drive, believe it or not even the 5” radio can play FLACs.
Yep just put them on a USB Flash and plug them in. I got a 128GB one with well over 1500 songs on it.

I've long since converted my classic rock to MP3 files but this would be cool, when you want the CD sound. There is something great though, about listening to the Eagles or Boston on 8-Track that was just wonderful though.

No quality is lost with FLAC, though the files are quite a bit larger than mp3.

A 320kB/s .mp3 is pretty lossless, and the files are reasonably sized.
The JT is my first vehicle without a CD player.

I agree it would take some really good speakers to discern at that bitrate, I just picked a song at random... Astral Weeks 7 min 3 secs = 48.5 MB FLAC, flash storage has much more capacity and is also less expensive than it used to be.

I tried one of the $20 DVD drives that connects to a computer. The 8.4 uConnect did not recognize it with a music CD in it. The drive linked from Amazon does work.

I paid $267 for one, but that was in November 2019. It's not a high demand item, so not going to have much competition to lower the price. I got a console tray with side pockets, and set the player in the right side. I also use a right angle adapter so the plug doesn't sit out so far. I paid less for one off of ebay, but it looks like this one.
