I've had my Gladiator for a year. As long as I've owned it, when I start it up, the radio turns on and plays SiriusXM on the last channel I was listening to. This week, I made the mistake of playing Spotify through Android Auto, which connects wirelessly to the vehicle when I start it. Ever since then, when I start the vehicle, Spotify starts playing, and I have to change the audio source to SiriusXM. I know there's a setting somewhere, but after searching for the better part of an hour, I can't figure it out. I suspect it has something to do with Users that pops up every time I start the vehicle. I'm stumped.

I absolutely HATE the car play feature. Most frustrating thing in the world. ANYONE jumps into the truck with me, they immediately plug in and then it interrupts my radio station to whatever dumb game noises are coming out of their phones. Switch back to my radio and 15 seconds later, I've got a retarded tiktok blasting through the truck. I HATE the way carplay is setup. I'm about to get behind the panel and clip all the wires except the power to those USB connectors :mad::mad::mad::angry:

Mine only connects through Bluetooth/Wi-Fi so I have no idea what it would do if I plugged a USB cable in. It sounds like I don't want to find out.

Nothing. It's just going to be the same experience you're getting wirelessly, now with a wire instead.

I use CarPlay and charge off the center console's hidden port when needed (I just don't like a cable hanging out of my dashboard now that I have wireless carplay even though that is the faster USB-C port), and it only seems to favor the wired connection if I start the vehicle after having plugged my phone in. Otherwise it just stays with the wireless connection.

The thing that REALLLY bothers me is that the moment you plug your phone into the car, it syncs up the bluetooth and suddenly the device is in your radio. No questions asked, no permissions given by me.

Run a cable for passengers from one of the power-only ports on the back of the center console. Or, get a USB adapter that plugs into the 12v power port.

Well, as soon as I posted this, I found the setting in Connected Devices/Android Auto on my phone. Just turn off "Start Music Automatically". Oof!

Thank you for posting that. I couldn’t remember how I fixed it and I was about to go mess with the settings on my Jeep to try to figure out how I did it. You saved me a trip. Lol

Android Auto was doing similar to me. Force stopping it on the phone when it tried to connect worked to reset things.

It’s not an android auto thing. It does the same thing with CarPlay, but the same setting in the menus fixes it.

I'm sure I'll forget again in a year or two, and I'll just search for my thread! :)

Yup, did that, although I'm not cool enough to have USB in the back 🙄

It's sad I can't use my truck without creating bypasses. This is a very easy feature that could be fixed. Just like the auto start/stop could be set to remember the driver's choice instead of always reverting back to on.

If BMW can make it so the setting is remembered after a restart, why can't Jeep? It's just silly that I have to hit that button every time I start the truck.

Don't give them a cord then. When they go to connect their phone to the cord say something inappropriate like "Hey - when I get in your car, do I f**k your wife?"

Or, mount up a magsafe charger on the passenger side so they don't get a cord.

I think you have the same uconnect 4 screen and this is how it is supposed to work for you:

When you plug it, first your screen will ask if you want to switch to the new phone and you can refuse via the screen. If you do, the other phone will still get power. I do this all the time to keep my wife's or daughter's phones off the screen while driving.

Next, for a sync to happen, I think that it is your phone's job to be the gate keeper. The infotainment has to ASK for permission from the phone (the first time) and if the user gives it permission through the phone, the sync is made. If not, it should be power only. I think that is the standard convention. The exact look will vary depending on the phone version.

It will normally only ask the first time.

Finally, I am pretty sure you can also enable and disable certain phones that have already connected from projecting to the screen (device management? projection management?) but I may be thinking of my wife's grand cherokee. I will check later.

One thing you may make sure is that your uconnect is the latest version. I upgraded mine from the 7" to 8.4" and when I did I upgraded it to the newest firmware. From what I read it fixed a lot of bugs but I never used it with the older version.
