I was holding out for the Bestop folding twill cap but the price really turned me off. I planned on also getting a rack over the cap to support a tent, but when you start adding things up the cost for the Bestop cap and a rack alone was going to be close to $3K. For $2K I can get the ARE CX painted to match with wing windows and kill two birds with one stone. Plus my wife occasionally will drive the Jeep and the rack/cap combo makes it look like your on safari (do you even wheel bro?) so she'll like the looks of the ARE cap better too.

So to my question...what don't you like about your ARE cap??

After some additional research it seems like I will need the HD version to support an RTT so the cost will surely go up.

I hope I can eventually get a deal like that! I don't think I have much desire for the HD frame taking up all that space, but I'd gladly sacrifice the cubic feet for some tool boxes.

ARE Cap.....The quality is pretty good, you can tell they are pinched for workers/swamped with orders. Little details like application of carpet to cap is rough, carpet seem buts overlap and are shaggy, lots of loose carpet fiber, lots of fiber glass dust in carpet, pop rivet holes aren't cleaned/reamed of swarf.

Nothing detrimental to function, but the fit and finish is not on par with the jeep fit and finish. It reminds me of toy hauler fit and finish.

Got a CX Classic installed about three weeks ago, can confirm regarding the fit and finish -- there's nothing wrong functionally with mine and I'm satisfied overall but they definitely didn't take much care in construction and there are a lot of little cosmetic issues.
