I just installed these doors off mirrors on my Gladiator and the Wife’s JLU. $70 on Amazon. They mount similarly to the Uber $$$ CMM mirrors. Digging them so far

Those mirrors look good.

Wrangler/Gladiator mirrors are one of my pet peeves.
On my 1998 Wrangler it was a simple matter of nutting
an inexpensive motorcycle mirror
into the vacant door hinge.
Later I used a relocation bracket which I really like
to move the factory mirrors permanently to the body.

Back in 2014 long before Stellantis bought Chrysler
Jeep/Chrysler had a contact form
for customer service.

I sent them this dynamite idea:

Make Wrangler Side Mirror Hinge the Same Size as the Door Hinge

Here is an idea Wrangler owners will love. The problem is that when the
doors are removed, the side mirrors come off with the doors. The driver is
left with no side mirrors, an unsafe condition that could result in injury
or death. Simply make the side mirror hinge the same size as the door
hinge so that the mirrors can be transferred from the doors to the
body. Currently, the door hinge pin is slender and has a 13 mm nut. The mirror
has a thicker pin secured by a 17 mm nut. Just change the mirror to have a
smaller pin. A bushing could be used to fit the new mirror on old mirror
mounting brackets so that the new mirrors could be offered as replacement
mirrors on existing Wranglers. Regards

Jeep responded thusly:

It is great to read of your interest in Jeep!

We appreciate the time and effort taken to contact Chrysler with
detailed suggestions of this nature. However, we must rely on our
worldwide employees and affiliate suppliers to devise and develop these
innovations.

These detailed suggestions may include various inventions, vehicle
styling art or sketches, new propulsion technologies, manufacturing
process improvements or any other unsolicited technical ideas or
inventions.

You are always welcome to reply back to this email and I will respond
back to you as promptly as I can. If you prefer, you can also reach us
directly with your questions at the Jeep Product Information Center by
calling 1-800-964-0600. When you call, we can connect you directly to
your local dealership, providing your call is during the dealer's hours

Thank you for your interest in the Jeep Wrangler. Have a great
day!

And I replied as follows:

From your boilerplate response, I can't tell if you even read my suggestion, so let me up the ante. It's a safety issue. To put it harshly, Jeep has created a design that prevents Wrangler operators from being able to use their side mirrors when the doors are removed. A simple change of the mirror hinge would provide Wrangler owners, past present and future, the option to move their mirrors from the door to the body. This would increase safety, prevent accidents, reduce the risk of personal injury and possibly save lives. Can you hear me now?

Chrysler/Jeep did not reply to this but has since shut down the contact form.

In my opinion, I still believe that the mirrors should come from the factory
mounted to the body and not to the door, especially now that the doors
have a door hold check to keep from whacking the mirror
and an additional electrical connection to the mirror.

I'm pretty sure they read your email. They don't take unsolicited ideas because they're afraid you might come after them later wanting a cut of their profits for using your idea.

I added this one—cowl mount. Haven’t tried them out yet, but plan to soon here.

I bought a pair last Fall. Little to no vibration at highway speeds and easy to take on and off. The mounting ball is a nice extra. Curious to why you installed them on the top though...

I was also curious. I mounted mine on bottom to be near original location. Easier to see as well

Because I wanted them up out of my line of sight. My wife wanted hers lower so I mounted hers on the bottom and have the mirrors vertical facing down right now

I like where those ones mount and it looks pretty easy to put on and take off. Is the bolt the same size as others in the jeep, or do you have to carry around another hex key?
I had the ones that attached to the cowl. They were horrible. They wouldn't stay in place no matter how much they were tightened/adjusted, and they would vibrate like crazy. The 6 dollar pair of scooter mirrors I got worked better.
I used the scooter mirrors for a long time, and they were great but I didn't like how I had to re-adjust them after every install so I got these ones: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CWR429PQ?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
Same concept, and they're my favorite so far. After my bad experience with the cowl JOYTECH I didn't even consider trying their grab bar mount ones but I could have saved a couple bucks if I did.

They do use a 4mm hex key to install/remove. The bolt that holds it on is pretty soft and I’m afraid I’m going to strip it out pretty quickly so I’m going to replace it with a knob as soon as I can get one of the bolts to the hardware store to check size and thread pitch

So after a week with these on my JT and my wife’s JLU I have a few thoughts on them. Overall we both like them. They’re stable at highway speeds.

The hardware that mounts the mirrors to the brackets and the brackets to the Jeep is cheap and won’t last more than a few uses without the 4mm Allen head stripping out (I had to remove hers yesterday and was very concerned that the bolt head was going to strip out on its first removal)

I don’t like that you have to use a tool to remove the mirrors from the brackets so I’ll be replacing those bolts with knobs and the bolts that mount the brackets with socket head cap screws. Even if I have to spend $15 on hardware that should have been included I’d still buy these again. They’re 80% of the CMM stuff at 20% of the price

Yes. There’s a lot of ways they can be mounted. You can mount them at the top or the bottom of the grab handle then position the mirrors themselves horizontal like I have mine or vertical facing either up or down. My wife has hers mounted at the bottom of the handle and her mirrors are facing down. It puts the mirrors pretty close to where the factory mirrors are.

I have the same ones on mine and on my wife’s JL. Only been using them for about a week but so far I like them. Ours are mounted at the bottom of the grab rails rather than at the top like yours are. I agree that a bolt with a knob would be better than the Allen bolts they come with for easy on/off.

Looking
Nice to see some reviews on this one, because I didn't cancel my order in time, so I'll be trying them soon. 😁

Will see how solid or shaky, quick or obtrusive they are. I liked the variety of orientations possible, and big flat mirror. Hopefully not too big.

Anyone that does so, please let us know about quick bolt replacement options you find.

Anyone interested in buying, per camelcamelcamel, it's regularly on sale for $60.

My other considerations were:

Kikbax - I like the foot peg combo and rigidity, but unsure about the bulky storage. Still regret not picking up a set at Smokey Mountain JI. Jpeggz are a similar option, but I'm not sure if they exist anymore. Website is down and discontinued on Extreme Terrain.

Lange Coyote - I like the quick release, not sure about small/convex mirror, not a fan of attachment point.

American Outlaw - simple, big flat mirror, doesn't stick out, looks solid. Could be a winner. More expensive than Joytutus, but moot while out off stock.

Cheap motorcycle mirrors - should have started here and why I tried to cancel my order. I'd like a flat mirror with decent size to it, but should have at least tried small/convex first for $8. May still.

CMM - looks solid, but overpriced for a small convex mirror on a short arm. At least until I'm sure I'd like that. Campsite Carbon is similar, slightly cheaper, same problems.
