I will check in the morning when all the slush and crap has melted and dried off under there. Thanks for the tip. Oh ya, how do you know?
He's one of several who have had that happen........... and if there's a VC leak, make sure they follow the TSB on replacing the valve cover, too, if it applies to your year, etc.

If I was you, I'd swear off cars and trucks and maybe have food delivered, etc.
I've never in my life seen anyone with such bad luck or so many things happen to a single vehicle.

I'm on number 2 and I have had no engine or transmission issues at all, not one (ok, where's some real wood I can knock on.......... oh, the floor, that's oak, that should be good)

That’s about to change. I talked to two rebuilders in Calgary and both of them said they can do all the boring and honing and balancing and better parts and tolerances but at the end of the day the 3.6 pentastar engine is an engineered nightmare so they wouldn’t even consider doing it and I shouldn’t either.

I still have warranty on that engine so I’ll let them toss this around and perform what they think and I might just jump ship.
And yet people do build these with forged parts, superchargers and more.

LOL - I've rebuilt Pinto and Vega engines, those were engineered junk

As far as boring, not sure I'd bother with that. Why - for more displacement?
Honing is only the final finish to the cylinder wall - and these wouldn't be any different. Anyone who can't put a good finish on these shouldn't be building engines.

But boring then you get into balancing issues if you change piston and/or rod weights so they need to know about balancing these.

If I were to CC the heads on one of these, I wonder how close the chambers would be to being perfectly identical? Is there any or much valve shrouding on a 3.6? No problem with exhaust since the manifold is part of the head - how well do the intake manifold ports match the head ports?

Mine was bank 2 (passenger side). Pull the inner fender liner back or out. Look for the back side of the valve cover and see if there is oil leaking. The down stream O2 and connector is right below the valve cover. My connector was soaked with oil.

I picked up a new O2 sensor at the dealer, sprayed out the connector with brake clean, let it dry, slapped it back together cleared the codes. Then I fired it up and let it run up to operating temp to ensure that everything was good to go before I reinstalled the inner fender liner.

Hope that helps.

Did you pull the valve cover and fix that leak too?

I don’t know…. Perhaps you’re tone deaf? No one seems to hear it cuz they don’t know what to listen for, perhaps?? Heck, the brand new gladiator overland they gave me for my last service/warranty call had the tranny whine and all of them never heard it till I pointed it out.

Mine has the typical whine in reverse, but so far has been quiet and smooth in all forward gears.

Maybe it's time to trade mine in and start over before something breaks?!

No, still need to get it into the dealer. Shits under warranty so they can fuck with it. If it wasn't for having to fuck with the coolant lines going to the heater core I would have done it already.

So battery box removal AND coolant lines? Ahh man... I'm really pushing mine down the line, I have a feeling things wont go well if they have to touch it for this.

I don't think removing the battery box is needed

You are in an abusive relationship with your Gladiator. One of you needs to get out from the other.
We tried. The wife met up with a friend for lunch at the mall a bit ago. She came back out 2 hours later to find the truck running ?. She forgot to shut it off! At the mall, at lunch time, for two hours and it’s still there!!?? Everybody loves it and wants it but when made easy to get, it just sits there!! ?

Had a look without breaking too much. No oil leaking back there onto the O2 sensors.

People Work?
There's a company out there somewhere, probably more than one, that does 4.0 L crate motors for Jeeps. One of the Youtube off-roaders was using one not long ago. Matt's maybe?
If you're gonna build, it might be worth considering.
You're a patient soul, I'll give you that.

4.0 stroker!
There are kits, or grab a 258 and 242 (4.0) and build your own.
