I'm wanting to plan a Baja trip with some family. I'd be the only one with the ecodiesel.

Any ideas what the diesel availability and quality would be like in Baja Mexico? Would it be safe for the engine to use the diesel they sell in Mexico?

Thanks.

I had some friends do a sprinter van trip and they were able to get diesel fuel no problem. They did have to use a converter funnel for semi pumps.

You can always give it another filter, built in before the factory one(i think this was the way, as there is a correct way that in most places won't mess with warranty).

Or DIY, get a jerry, filter the Diesel (with a strainer for larger debris)into the jerry and then into your truck with a pump and diesel filter

getting a catch can and pre fuel filter water separator installed might also be an option if you plan on going frequently

Would it be a problem that mexico doesn't carry the same ultra low sulfur diesel as here in the US that these engines are designed for?

They might not have it everywhere, but many stations got upgrades, for example many Pemex, and a lot of stations now have signs for Diesel for (bajo azufre) or DUBA (diesel ultra bajo azufre) Low Sulfur. Take a Jerry, Fuelfilters are really a good idea and Cash. Many places the card either doesn't work when you get there or they do not bother. In some places you can even get a bargain, but because you need quality Diesel I doubt you will be stopping at those :)

I traded my 2020 Mojave in for a 2022 Sport S EcoD. I've done quite a bit of research on the lack of ULSD in Mexico and other locations globally. I was trying to find out exactly what the potential impact would be to the engine/emissions components by running fuel with a higher sulfur concentration.

Long story short, on some of the RV forums there are groups that run down to baja regularly and fill up with Low sulfur diesel (vice Ultra low) and have had zero issues. "supposedly" there "could" be long term impact if you were running a fuel with a higher sulfur content all the time, but running a few tanks here and there doesn't seem to have an impact.

That being said I haven't done it yet, so bear that in mind.
