Was just about to place another order for the Amsoil MS. I will now purchase the heavy duty and give it a shot.
Do a UOA of both and let us know the results! The more data we get about how different oils perform on this engine, the better.

2nd analysis after installing Green Diesel Engineering tune. Fuel dilution went up a little, but I've read that this is common with the tune. Will continue to watch. Switching over to Castrol Edge Euro Car - 5W-40 for the next run.

Castrol Edge performs very well, but it's a full SAPS oil.
I know, but I'm torn between plugging the DPF early, or coking the turbo with a non ms-12991 oil, which I keep hearing about but don't know how true that is. Honestly, the Castrol is the only oil I can find easily locally that's reasonably priced. I plan to continue changing oil at 5000 mile intervals.
The Amsoil still looks like the gold standard, but the price. Maybe if it was used for extended (10K) changes the cost would be OK. Thoughts?

I can show you a turbo that came off a test mule.

Yep. So for me and where I live, I'll wait until I have DPF issues and I'm totally out of warranty, then put her on a weight loss program.

This may be mere correlation and not causation, but your aluminum numbers went up a bit alongside the increased fuel dilution. I was super interested in the GDE tune because of power gains and reduced soot levels, but the increased fuel dilution ultimately steered me away from getting it.

I understand. By all means, do what you think is best for your situation.

The Amsoil still looks like the gold standard, but the price. Maybe if it was used for extended (10K) changes the cost would be OK.
Amsoil MS will give you lower wear numbers, longer intervals, and significantly extend the life of the DPF.

Thoughts?
I'll stick with Amsoil MS.

What are the details here?
I don't know the specifics other than this was a turbo pulled off a test mule. If I had to guess, this was the reason why they reversed course and changed the oil specification. They also took pictures of the main bearings.

Where did you pull these photos? Do you know what oil was used in the testing?

I get the general concept, but can someone dumb it down or cliff note it? I'm just past 40k miles on my '22, been running Lucas fuel additive fairly consistently, really notice a drop when I miss a tank.
