EcoDiesel UOA (Oil Analysis) Results Thread

Latest oil report. There is 5,000 miles on the oil, Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck. 64,000 miles on the engine.

Potassium has come down nicely, and aluminum has dropped a bit as well. Aluminum is still pretty elevated, so we'll continue to monitor it just in case it does show some extra wear at the pistons and/or bearings. Other metals continue to read within normal ranges, and the oil isn't contaminated by any notable dirt or fuel dilution. The viscosity read in 5W/40 grade, and the oil filter worked well at limiting oxidized solids. No coolant was found.

This oil change. I switched to Mobil 1 ESP low ash. Let's see what it does. Next oil change at 70,000 miles.

Don't remember. It is lower to the TDT oil I was using.

Dealers did all my maintenance, now that Jeep Waves is done I have switched to Amsoil.

My Jeep just hit 50,000 miles, and I finally got around to ordering my first report. I have been using the Mopar oil since the first 3 free oil changes. Seeing others' reports on here makes me want to try the Amsoil, but I have 2 more oil changes worth of Mopar oil sitting in the garage, so maybe I'll try a shorter interval next time to reduce Aluminum.

Your aluminum is about the same as mine. And I have 65,000 on it. Mine has always read around 22.

20,000 mile change, planning to push intervalto 10,000 as recommended.

Got my first test results back from Blackstone using Mobil 1 Mobil Delvac 1 ESP 5W-40.

Aluminum back up this time. It could still be related to flux, since potassium also shows a notable increase .
Monitor for any signs of trouble, though (like low oil pressure), in case some of this aluminum indicates extra wear at the
pistons/bearings. The other wear metals are in healthy ranges for the 7,177-mile oil run, suggesting the rest of the internal
parts are in great shape. Low silicon means we can rule out excess dirt contamination, and the high flashpoint rules out
fuel. Check back after a similar run to keep tabs on aluminum.

So, same or better than turbo diesel truck ? Do you plan on switching to amsoil or motul?

I might. Give this oil 2~3 changes before switching. This is just the first set of results.
