Have a 23' Rubicon and today(2300 mi) while wheeling I saw both those lights on for a brief moment. I turned the JT off and they were both off when I restarted.

I have been switching between 4hi and lo all along the remote utah trail system and have been driving thru mud and snow . I managed to do another 100 miles off-road (4hi) without issue.

From my research thru various forums the aux battery could be the culprit for the ESS along with potential loose fuses. The ESC is what I am not sure about. I know the various sensors (wheel speed, and steering wheel angle) all affect the ESC system.

I was wondering if anyone could suggest things for me to check before this 'glitch' turns into something worse down the road. I am pretty mechanically inclined but am new to the gladiator.

I come from a 2011 Tacoma that I significantly modified over the years. The only electronic thing I would have to mess with on the taco was the occasional VSC reset by jumping some OBD2 port pins.

After 6 months mine was on. Took it to dealer and they replaced the auxiliary battery. Told me not to use ESS since my trips were short or it would kill it again. Said to only use it on trips over 45 minutes that less than that it didn’t have time to recharge battery.

Since I don't drive my JT much, should I get a trickle charger? I mainly work from home (remote) and don't drive it far on a regular basis.

The Gladiator has a constant drain on the batteries from the computers, alarm, and head unit. If it is not driven regularly, the batteries don't get charged enough to survive the drain. Whether or not you turn the ESS system off has no effect on the charging. If it spends a lot of time parked, or the driving is all short trips, then a battery maintainer is usually necessary.

So, I had to jump my JT the other day. I used my power brick without issue. I took it to the dealer later in the week. I had the. Stress test the batteries and they passed. I also send them this particular TSB since two error codes were found when they downloaded from the vehicle. Those codes were C1252-92 and P258B.

I also found a similar JL forum where users had those two dash lights come on but the batteries were fine. The problem was a bad batch of vacuum hoses with bad check valves. The pumps were fine, but we're getting hot since they were running too long as they couldn't pull a vacuum.

Apparently the tech checked the vacuum pump and checked for disconnected hoses. No problem.

As of right now, I don't have the lights on, but if they come on again , I have a potential route towards a fix.

I had this issue on my 2018 JLU 3.6. My issue was a bad O2 sensor and bad vacuum pump in the braking system—not sure exactly which because the dealer kept it for a total of two weeks and those were replaced. It never happened again. Before the two week service trip I had in the service dept off and on again about six times for a day each. They’d clear the codes and say it was fixed. I had the P258B and C1252-92 codes. Also, after fixes are applied they must flash the PCM or you will continue to get the error.

It happens. I wouldn't worry too much until they stay on. They are both replaceable under warranty when they go bad. I just had both of mine replaced last week when the light came on about a month ago. Figured it was a dying Aux battery, the dealership replaced both for free.
