How loud it the AWE exhaust? I ordered the AWE Tread single but I have never heard it in person. I have watched just about every YouTube video on it but I am sure it sounds different in person. 1 to 10 with 10 being loud AF, what would you rank the loudness? At start up, idle, accelerating and cruising on the highway?
7/10 in loudness, but a good loud. I'm on my 17th month since I installed the Awe Dual Tread. It still sounds great and looks fantastic.

The Tread is a side exit and mine (Trail) exits under the bed so there will be some difference but I can’t say how much. I would expect mine to be slightly louder inside the Jeep. It would be great if someone could measure decibels for a factual data comparison but I am happy to give you my subjective opinion.

At start up, maybe a 1.5 or 2 if the stock exhaust =1

At idle, same answer as above. I could not really hear the stock exhaust at idle and I can hear the AWE but in a good way.

Accelerating is where you will hear the difference. If stock =4, AWE is more like a 7 or even an 8 if you are hammering it, and more like a 6 at ā€œnormalā€ acceleration. As you might expect, the higher the rpm’s, the louder it gets but never like Harley straight pipes or race car/motorcycle loud. After wheeling at AOAA or Rausch Creek, I always have people compliment the sound and ask what exhaust I have.

Highway is similar to the above answer. Coming up to speed to enter the highway or pass someone or go up a hill or against the wind and the sound is directly relative to how much rpm’s but if you are not really heavy on the pedal I think it is probably in the 5 range as you go through the lower gears (on an automatic, I don’t have the manual) but 7th and 8th, at say 65 or 70 on flat ground, are at most a 3 if a stock exhaust is a 1. You can hear it but it isn’t so loud that you need to turn up the radio or shout above it. Of course, going up a hill or any other condition where you are trying to maintain highway speed in a lower gear and it will get louder with every downshift.

Again, this is subjective and my sound tolerance might be higher or lower than yours. Best of luck with it. I’m really happy with mine and would not go back to the stock exhaust.

Thank you for the breakdown. It is very informotive and helpful. Hopefully, my AWE exhaust will be here soon and I can get it installed.

I have some install notes on page 2 of my build thread but hopefully this one will be helpful.
Or you can just grab a sawzall and cut the stock exhaust into two or three pieces and be done with it. ?

Installed my AWE Trail Edition cat back exhaust this morning. The most difficult part was removing the stock exhaust in one piece. I dropped the spare tire and removed the aluminum shield but it was still too tight to get it over the axle. I used a motorcycle lift under the frame just in front of the rear tire and the old exhaust slid right out.

Hello All,
Looking to put on an aftermarket exhaust. Looking for some throaty sound with no drone. Looking at AWE Tread, AFE Apollo and B2 Fabrication. The AFE and B2 are 409 Stainless and AWE is 304L Stainless. Any input, advice or discount hook ups are appreciated.

[I put the Flowmaster outlaw extreme on my glad yesterday along with an AFE filter . Whew, this thing is loud when you get on it! The fit and finish are awesome and it’s tucked up out of the way nice and tight. I’m worried about how this is going to effect my pulling the camper and roaring uphill. There is drone at certain rpm’s but haven’t driven enough on the interstate to really figure if it’s livable. It’s really nice throaty sound at low rpm’s, mash the throttle and all hell breaks loose. Oh well, I’ve only got one good arm so I cut the original exhaust off to keep from having to drop the tire, heat shield and skid plate. Quick and easy this way, but no keep original.
