Emailed Gupton to start the process of ordering my Rubicon Diesel and was told the following by Daniel Gupton himself:

"Spray In Bedliner is currently unavailable to order. I'm not sure if that is a permanent change or temporary but we cannot add that option even though it shows available on the Jeep.com website."

Anyone know anything... I cringe at the idea of having it done aftermarket and it not coming out well.

Oh yea, and a bunch of options went up in price
For me its
+$100 Keyless proximity
+$100 8.4 radio Prem Audio
+$170 LED Lights
+$50 Steel bumper
+$195 M/T Tires
+$100 3 Piece black roof

Total +$715

No idea on factory status, but I have the OEM bedliner on my 20 JTR.

Having had Rhino and Line-X on other projects, I’d say the OEM liner is “ok”.

But if I were you I would go with aftermarket Line-X.

What hang-up(s) do you have on aftermarket spray-in liners? How hard can it be, really? It’s not rocket surgery...

IMO, the AFTERMARKET option is better than factory because 1)lifetime warranty... 2)not quite as expensive as the factory option and 3)more places available for follow-up work.

I’ve also heard people on here point out that the Jeep factory liner isn’t as thick as aftermarket provided.

I had the same thing happen to me when I ordered mid-November.

I saw a video where they removed a factory bed liner from a Ford Truck. I may be off on times, but it took them ~20 minutes to remove the entire liner from the Ford truck. They tried to remove the LineX liner from the tailgate and it took at least that 20 minutes for just the tailgate, and they had to use an air chisel to remove it.

Properly masking off the whole Jeep to prevent overspray. Tape residue? Properly masking off any holes/threads. Properly sanding the whole surface. Properly spraying the paint so its even...
Does the tailgate close just as well with a aftermarket vs factory liner, no rubbin/interference areas of concern or wear in areas where there is joint/movement?

Maybe it's just my OCD?

LineX is less expensive then $495? I would have though it was cheaper for the factory to line the bead before the bed is painted and installed in the Jeep than when done on a finished Jeep... But I guess its my assumption the factory liner is done before the Jeep is finished.

This will be my first vehicle with a pickup bed and a liner....

Those are very fair hang-ups...plenty of people on here have had holes plugged with the goop, which would suck, but following up with a tap would clean out any residual stuff.

I haven’t hear any others complain about overspray or other application issues. These days with painter’s tape...I can’t imagine any tape residue issues. I’m not sure about the sanding or prep work involved, but I’ve read others on this forum say there’s not much of a sanding/prep process. Also read—somewhere on here—(don’t remember which provider, but) Line-X or Rhino was LESS THAN Jeep‘s option.

Bottom line: I bet if you share your concerns with your vendor of choice, they’ll do a decent job of ensuring your satisfaction.

I placed an order with Daniel this past Saturday. My build included bedliner. I was not told that it was no longer available. I was was however, also bummed that many of of the options ended up costing more because I waited till just after the first of the year to order.

Im going to do more research.

I just spent some time on the Line-x site. I recall seeing their videos/experiments as a kid, its impressive stuff... Anyways, i actually just sent their VP of international development an email because our company represents several brands/product in LATAM and I see they have not really penetrated the LATAM market... Maybe there is an opportunity.

Here is a pic from their website... Maybe they dont sand anymore with advances in chemical bond enhancers.

My dealer just used Line-X but when I priced it, it was $100 cheaper to get it done through my local Line X

How was it vs the $495?

Did you get offered to do a grey vs black spray?

If I was to order all over again I would order with no bed liner and go after market. Factory is much thinner than what after markets use. I would of also put a JEEP or GLADIATOR logo on the bulkhead of the bed.

Just do a good job researching for a good vender in your area.

Right, and from what I have read many times the "factory" bedliner just uses chemical adhsion promoters to speed things up versus the scuff sanding that LineX performs. So with the LineX you get a thicker product that is also bonded much stronger.

I would give him some time to research and try again. I have the factory bedliner (3-28-2019 build) with no issues. If you are going to get the Trail Rails, I would prefer factory for both options.
