The hinge plate itself has a black coating.
Would be curious what the black coating would be, since it's not a steel hinge. If it's a zinc alloy, could be something to prevent the zinc from corroding. Depending on what it is, on a hinge that is tightly bolted, it could be enough to prevent any issues. (TIGHTLY bolted being key)

They seem to have redesigned the hinges and added a zinc shim to them.

I have no data to back it up but i truly believe 21 / 22 models have the most issues. All the bs cv19 restrictions and “supply chain issues” ect. Ect. Makes me believe corners were cut intentionally and unintentionally and the end product suffered.
Problem with that is - there's still supply chain issues, parts you can't get, and no one wants to "work", meaning leave a desk and get sweaty or work in a factory.
If you have seen the production lines for Jeeps, people were already "socially distanced" so unless they got sick or had some other reason to not show up for work - should be business as usual for many areas (not all, but many)
parts shortages, I can see, like a period of time where you could not get ACC/FCW and so on for lack of parts, same for the inverter - there were inverter delete vehicles, GM/Chevy and Ford wen through the same.
I've got to say, though, that my 2020 compared to my 2022 - the 22 has been back for one single thing as far as warranty that that's nothing to do with covid or anything - it was a programming issue, well, really, the system hadn't learned the CCDIFF and that was a simple fix, and Jeep resolved it with a flash later (mine was resolved with a "force relearn" command)
For warranty- no issues. Sure, the bed isn't quite as perfectly square on the frame as my 2020 was but I'm probably the only one who would ever notice it, even if they were looking it over closely. You get that sort of thing with the majority of vehicles in any year.

They seem to have redesigned the hinges and added a zinc shim to them.
Odd is that my June, 2022 built 2022 already appears to have such things -

And looking back at my 2020, it also seemed to have some space between hinge body and door skin.

I noted in the past that documents referring to this (there's an older version of that as I recall) also said cause was "hinge composition" - would love to know what the hinge composition really is! It's not steel.

does anyone else hate it when all the fries stay in the container, and there are no "bonus" fries in the bottom of the bag?

Probably Ecoat. We had a greyish coating on the steel parts, and a black coating on most of the aluminum parts.

Sometimes crap just happens in life no matter what vehicle you buy or own. When it does, it is how you deal with it which shows your true character and what you are made of.

Great, now you people have me craving Five Guys french fries.
Problem is, I live out in the boonies. "Running out to 5 Guys" or anywhere else is 35-40 miles of back roads, round trip, and there is black ice out there this evening.
Oh, and to stay on topic, my 2021 JT hinges are non-magnetic and appear to have a black plate or insulator between the hinge and the door.

I got rid of my 2018 Ford F150 with the 2.7 ecoboost due to to many dealer visits… the last straw for me was blue smoke on start up at only 43K Miles…
I am now own a 2020 JT and couldn’t be happier… bubbling hinges and all… but seriously if that is the biggest issue ?‍♂

What's worse, paint or a motor? Tough call for me.

I have a 2021 Gladiator with bubbles on the hood. I have a 2020 F150 that got a new 5.0L at 28k miles. The Gladiator got a new transmission at 21k miles.

They all seem to have issues more commonly than they used to.

Most? LOL - really? Most? And yet - look at the ratings they have out there, and those in forums like this with zero, no, not a problem at all.
You have one and then say most?
Ah, you get your stats from the internet and Jeep forums! Good sources of extremely accurate data and information beyond reproach. Got it.
It's super easy to go online and find the common problems and let those get magnified to supporting the viewpoint of a shoddy piece of equipment, so-called data that supports a soured opinion and through a giant leap of mental gymnastics, validates those opinions.

How many users have we seen on here that come to b**ch and hope for validation? And they don't get it.

I think many of us have learned long ago that a lot of the people b**tching online are doing it just to complain.

That victim mentality is tiring.
