Still deciding to push the button on a special order JT which I’d ship into the Southern Caribbean and use on island as a daily Dive Truck, it would be the only JT on island for now (plenty of Wranglers). I’m now thinking about a base Sport with just a few options ... but manual doors/windows, 5” std. radio, bedliner, and 3-piece hard top (xmission is still TBD, auto would be nice).

Looking for feedback from other base Sport owners with minimal options .... what did/would you (factory or dealer) add. Any regrets for not upping to a higher end model?

thanks!

As a note, I will likely have a 25% local tax to bring it on island (8% if lucky) ... but, hey, it’s only money.

I have a base Sport truck with manual windows, mirrors and locks as well as a manual transmission. Only options I got was the hard top, rubber floor mats and the $250 tow hitch. Did not care to order a max tow option since I don’t need that. After I got l it I added a Bestop Sunrider, Mopar hard trifold tonneau cover, rear bumper step, 3” tall antenna, rubber bed mat and N-Fab Predator Pro steps. Love it, wouldn’t do it any other way.

Waiting for Bestop to come out with a roller shade that will work with the Sunrider, should be out by the end of the year. Also looking at aftermarket stereo systems before I get one.

Oh and I also got a set of 4 grab handles with rear coat hooks. Also got the rear underseat box. I had ordered the grab handles before I got my truck. But now that I have it I must say that I really didn’t need the ones I ordered. The 4 factory grab handles do an excellent job of assistance with stepping up and into the truck and with stepping down and out.

I have a Base Sport truck with manual windows, hard top and a trailer tow package with automatic. The only thing I have added is N-Fab Wheel to Wheel Nerf steps. I am enjoying my truck very much and I am not bothered by the lack of power windows / door locks. Good luck on your search.

I had a JLU Sport and now own a JT Sport Max Tow. Short answer, no, I never regretted not getting a higher end model.
Only options my JLU had was a hard top and rubber floor mats. I later added a radio with Sirius XM.
My JT is a little better equipped. It has a hard top, Aux switches, automatic transmission. The radio was already equipped with satellite.

I added Mopar side steps to both. Not because I needed them to get in but for the protection to the door hinges and sides of the Jeeps. A hundred miles on a dirt/gravel road will blast the paint right off the hinges.

Anyway, no regrets. Why spend money you don't have to?

Get the Sport. Tricked out electronic gadgetry does NOT belong in Jeeps.
Setting aside that the OP hasn't been seen in over a year, don't you think that even the Sport has the same 'electronic gadgetry' that might fail miserably on a higher-level trim? I'm thinking ECU-level kind of stuff, or poor waterproofing. I mean I see your point and would 100% agree if I thought it were possible to escape gremlins -- but aren't the sports just creating the illusion of simplicity? Power windows are pretty simple things.

I went with the Sport S...had an older Frontier with manual windows/doors and swore I'd never do that again. I can drive down the road and roll all 4 windows down. No yoga poses needed :) The other options I could live without (7" radio, Aux switches, heated seats/steering wheel)

Ditto on everything said above. No, absolutely no regrets. More room to play and add extras.
