I would still like to know what caused the codes to set. Too many of us have experienced the exact same thing. I would like to see problem corrected. Moving forward we diesel owners are most likely going to be our own support group being how Jeep has dropped the engine and 99% of dealers are zero help.
I’m with you. The codes read too much soot in bank 1, and then sway bar and driver assist system went out too. Not sure why the latter stuff went, but I suspect a bad tank of diesel or two as the cause of the soot code. I was tracking fuel milage running 450 miles or so a day across country, and I noticed at least two tanks when the mpg dropped from 22 to 18, and for the most part on flat terrain from Ohio to eastern Colorado. It was during one such tank like that the codes triggered and I went into limp mode. I did another 1,000 miles after that, even limping through very uneven terrain in western Colorado, Utah and Nevada, but I was much more careful about staying topped off, so I could never get more than half a tank of poor quality fuel at a time, and buying from busy places, and the mpg always stayed around 22.

So far, since the Jscan cleared the codes, I’ve been fine. When I get it back East to my regular dealer I’ll have them check it out, but I’m hoping it was just some bad fuel and no way to trigger a regen or clear the codes that hung me up. In the end, a bit of a PITA, but with some good advice from here it turned out alright.

So to follow up on my last response. I have been watching soot levels in JScan for the last week and a half since mine went into the- no more fun mode till dealer takes all your money message. It appears on my rig that ~ 75% soot mass is when the computer should call for a normal regen while driving. Mine did it twice on the way back from lake mac. What I need to determine is why the computer did not perform the regen and let it go full stuffed and limp mode. My current theory is something I wrong with my fuel system (injectors most likely) because the count of regents went from zero at 50k to 96 as of two days ago. I’m at 56k for reference. Might be worth looking at the injector fuel trim numbers in JScan to see if any are way of the others like mine are.

On my IDash gauge. I get around 800 minutes and 900 mile avenge between regens. My soot % is around 75.

Excellent advice. I’ll dive deeper into Jscan as I prep to cross over to Florida in a few weeks. Let me know if you’ve seen any good tutorials I should check out.

I know this kind of an old thread but did anyone every figure out the cause of the issue? I just had a trip from TX up to the top of UT and 5 hours into the drive I was hit with the P24A4 code that put me into limp mode. I tried using the Banks iDASH to clear the code but it didn't work so I limped it back to the closest dealership 20 miles away that didn't have any diesel techs working but they just did a manual regen which cleared everything. It happened 3 more times along the way but I remembered that I had the tazer which worked to clear the code and then active regen started and cleared the soot level. I also received the code P0106 one time. The last about 400 miles my mpg went from 18mpg to 13mpg and the regen went from happening every hour, hour and half to about every 10-15 minutes and on the iDASH it the regen time went from around 350 minutes to 250 to 120 to 97 minutes. I have an appointment with the dealership on Sat but I need to remove all the Banks stuff and I since all the codes are cleared and all the modifications done to it not sure if they will cover it under warranty or try to get out of it. The first dealership did print out all the codes it was throwing before they cleared them. I was using 1oz of EDT with every tank but stopped doing that after the first time this happened to see if it would clear up.

After limping from Colorado to California, I used the JScan to clear the codes. Regens sling the way cleared the problem. After that, I crossed to Florida and then up to NY with no issues. I’m betting I either got a bad tank of diesel in western Nebraska, or got a little too eager with the EDT. The biggest issue was not finding a dealer anywhere with a tech who could look at it.

Good luck my friend. Let us know how it turns out.
