Have you seen videos of those Element "fire extinguishers" in action? Respectfully, I mean, I think I stand a better chance of pissing on a forest fire and putting it out than one of those putting out a vehicle fire. I was all set to buy a couple until I saw a real life video of one in action.
Yea, I mean it’s to help put out a little cooking fire or something. Better than nothing, and I’m not going to haul a 20# extinguisher around. Most small extinguishers people carry probably wouldn’t put out a huge gas fire.

It’s above my head on the roll bar so shouldn’t hit.

Jeep Gladiator Fire extinguisher mount for Gladiator? IMG_2014

I like my location. Can grab on the way out if needed or quick access from outside

One answer for some of us: enclosed camper over the bed means quite a few actions to get to the bed. Probably similar for tonneaus. And why have it outside in the rain, snow, dust, etc if it doesn't need to be. Mounted to the driver's seat means I can just grab it on the way out of the truck

I've seen various comments to the effect of "let it burn and let insurance sort it out" over the years. I haven't had a fire on my own vehicle, though I have helped to put out a brake fire on a friend's car. It was a few minutes of panic trying to do something with sand and water bottles; in the end only a piston dust boot was really damaged (just a rebuilt caliper and it was fixed). I'm not going to stand around that thinking "I hope this spreads to the whole car and totals it, and all my stuff, a thousand miles from home on vacation." Extinguisher is cheap and solves a lot of common situations.
All that and Fire extinguishers are require on most trails along with your Trail Kit, First Aid Kit and recovery equipment.

Securely fasten it under your rear seat or bed of your truck. Those of us who have had the unfortunate pleasure of being first on-scene to accidents, know that these type additions will make every effort to kill you and/or others in the vehicle in an accident. Same goes to the overhead steel molle racks and other steel protrusions many install. I agree, they look great and add functionality in a perfect world, until they become convenient beheading/lacerating devices in a rollover or otherwise jarring accident. That's my two cents for what it's worth.

I had an old S10 alternator catch on fire...heard a squeeling sound, popped the hood and it was burning. Couldn't find anything to put it out with...started blowing on it :CWL:. It went out though...I would like to get something for those little things.
