Agree with your frustration, but having trouble with the purchased 6 months ago. Earliest you could order a Granite LE was 4/3. That has been 110 days (as of today), 16 weeks (on Wednesday), or 4 months (next Saturday 8/3). Jeep may not be factual with us, but we should be factual in our documentation of their failures.
Only 4 months? Not 6 months?
Feels like 6 YEARS!
(Sorry, I guess through my tears of pain and frustration, I accidentally typed a 6 instead of a 4!) Four months is still ludicrous, for a paint problem that should only require a few hours to resolve!
Sorry Kayakmike, I need to go out on our mountain and find my GCMLE Zen! Ohmmmm... ;{

Hey it’s all good. Remember the Are You Entertained video? Well I was entertained, thanks @kayakmike. Sorry for your pains. Go kick a Jeeps tires, may help(no guarantee). Be certain not to break toes, works best(and safest) with steel toe shoes.

GCM LE moved from C to D on Friday 7/19 according to my dealer
Do you have a VIN (which you should get with D status)? That would give us hope. You would be the first forum member beyond C status (a dealer once said he had one in D status and posted VIN but disappeared and stopped giving updates).

If they have so much trouble with matching paint, what happens when I need a touch up. Or God forbid need some body work done at a auto body shop because a jealous Taco driver hit me? @JeepCares

Metallic paint colors are notoriously difficult to match up and given Jeep is using robots to spray bodies, another vendor to spray the fenders (hand sprayed?) and possibly a third vendor to spray the tops (hand sprayed?), it's understandable why they're having issues... Not an excuse but understandable.... Metallics must be sprayed with the same metallic additive concentration, same type of spray gun and nozzle design and base material.... any one of these can alter the effects dramatically.... I think jeep had a steep learning curve with the new line set up... the only color currently metallic on the new line is Billet and that seems relatively easy to match since the base color and metallic additive are similar... Crystal Granite's a different animal ... dark base with metallic additive... ask any pro painter and they' ll tell you the same.. plus it is Mucho more $$$$ and work to paint properly!

So with all that said I'm even more convinced that if I need paint for anything, my JT will look like it's got the mange

Ah, yet they are taking orders & assigning VINs for Punk'N Metallic. And it's not like they haven't been working with Granite on the JKs & JLs in the same factory for years now (as well as other Jeeps and RAMs). If it was a completely new color, I might buy that line of BS. Remember, the JK production line was reworked to create the JT line, so literally the same line was already set up to paint Granite. Can understand the subcontractor argument (especially if it is the top or fenders), but again this isn't Jeep's first rodeo with painting fenders or removable tops.

Also I don't buy the Mucho more $$$ to paint. Look at the RAM build site (where they charge different amounts for different colors). Metallics are a $200 premium, vs $100 for the pearls over the $0 cost of red and white. Not a huge difference on a $60k vehicle. If it really cost significantly more, they would pass the cost on.

Not making excuses for Jeep... or the lack of their openness about the issues with Granite... I'm certainly not shooting you any line of BS either. Completely agree they "Should" have known... As for Mucho Dollars, metallic paint (and especially repairs) in a private shop cost more to color match, which is what I was referring to... Obviously a large scale operation is more cost effective and they can spread cost out across the board... Painting a (Metallic colored) vehicle as one unit is the proper way to go for metallic paints, painting items separately (using different processes) is just asking for trouble. I've done enough painting to know the problems metallic colors can cause.... If I had to guess, I'd say Jeep has subbed them out for one contractor to paint them as a unit with the same equipment to correct the paint issues....

Last I heard the Punkin metallic's actual production date had been pushed back 60 days to get the Granite orders done first... but we can't trust Jeep to give us the straight scoop....on anything apparently!

Looks to me like, the number of GRANITE LE’s to be built, is 8 less than it was... and that’s only 8 Forum cancels... must have been numerous non-Forum cancellations as well? ;{
When i switched to the red LE it was more of a swap for one otherwise ordered by a guy who works at the dealer so I expect that when “my” GCLE is shipped to the dealer he will take it or it will go on the lot but not go away

I hope Jody calls me if that’s the case.

That's correct on mine also. I picked up a Black LE on Saturday that a guy backed out on (Dealer told me the original guys wife got pregnant so they had to back out.) My GCM LE is still on order, they will just put it on the lot when/if it ever comes in.

I told them to let me know when it gets there and maybe I'll trade in the black one for it!! But until then, i'm loving Black Betty!
