First oil change

The owner's manual says the following on page 383-385 (PDF not showing page numbers correctly):

Under no circumstances should oil change
intervals exceed 10,000 miles (16,000 km),
12 months or 350 hours of engine run time,
whichever comes first. The 350 hours of engine
run or idle time is generally only a concern for
fleet customers.

Is there a way to see engine run time? So you can see it and track for oil change intervals.

A friend of mine is a cop and they actually have an aftermarket hour meter on the dash that they use to track time with. Police cars spend a huge amount of time idling.

In the bad old days, this was more of an issue since you could end up with unburnt fuel in the oil and even worse lead deposits in the combustion chamber (in the really bad old days)

Now, combustion events are so tightly monitored and controlled that a vehicle can idle indefinitely with no bad effects.

Is there a way to see engine run time? So you can see it and track for oil change intervals.

There is the two trip meters that will track run time since last reset, but they will roll over every 100 hours.

Total accumulated engine hours time to date will need a scan tool that can go into the PCM to find that data.

Call me old fashioned but i did my first oil change @ 700 miles (and i thought that was waiting on the longer side). Every other oil change after that has been at 3K miles.
