Everything was going fine until I torqued the last caliper bolt. I was basically done and was just waiting for the click... and the click never came. YUP!!! I stretched the caliper bolt ?‍♂

Oh Well... New set of bolts for the front and rear are coming.

I've never torqued caliper bolts........always by feel.

Reminds me of the time helping a buddy out work on his E46 M3 years ago. He wanted everything torqued, so I asked if he had replacements bolts he said no. I informed hime the all of BMWs hardware was TTY bolts.......so installed to feel. He said well on the forum.....blah blah BMW shit. So he insisted on taking the torque wrench to them.........wanna guess what happened next. Yup snapped both bolts on both crank sensors. So he ended up paying me 4 hours labor and materials to fix that shit. He was lucky, in my hardware bin in my garage I had 2 correct size bolts for it.

From that point forward he listened to me and my 30 years of automotive knowledge lol

And I got a set of questionable torque specs from the web.
That may be a big part of it. There's a list of torque specs for steering and suspension in these forums somewhere........ REAL torque specs from FCA themselves for Gladiator - not Wrangler from 5 years ago. Not sure there's any brake torque specs, though.

Brakes, suspension and steering I often do torque - but I have torque specs in hand first and if new bolts are required, the specs will say "one time use bolts".
Some systems I've done so much work on I can tighten from memory - do 50 GM brakes and you don't need a torque wrench after the first few.

These trucks have a mix of torque, torque plus angle and torque to yield so ya gotta look before leaping (easier to say than do!)

I’ve done a zillion pad replacements on a zillion cars just not my Gladiator yet.

I assume it is straight forward, business as usual but to the OP: Any issue OTHER THAN effing the caliper bolts?

Pretty straight forward. It's my first time ever replacing pads and rotors. Once I got the driver front done I breezed through the other corners.

What is your mileage?
Were your rotors worn or did you do them just because?

I checked pads on front of my diesel JL at 60K and they still have plenty of friction material. It has been on 35's since new.

That is painful... My brother in law and I were working on his B58, installing a downpipe and a few other goodies. Whoever worked on his exhaust before us must have torqued it down to control arm specs, we had to torch off all the bolts from the v-band on the top of the downpipe all the way back to the exhaust tips. It was hell.

Rear rotors are a PITA to remove. Gotta loosen parking brake. All pending how much mud/rust is built up.
