Question based on a conversation with dealership service department. I recently reached 5k on my gladiator and called dealership to schedule servicing, was told that my vehicle would notify me somewhere between 5k and 8k when to get it serviced. It would appear on my dash panel notifying me to get it done at this time.
Can anyone confirm this? I know cars these days require oil change servicing at 10k but since I am not sure about Jeep, I called to schedule and was told this.

The oil life monitor will tell you when it 'needs' to be done. You can have it done whenever you want. Make sure they put in the correct amount of oil and reset the monitor.

I'm at ~6000 miles with my EcoDiesel and I'm still at 35% oil life. It sounds like right around 10k will be correct for me.

My dealer when I went in for my first was your way too early and I told them I get 4 free from the wave program so I will be in every six months no matter what the mileage is to use them up . He shrugged his shoulders and did my oil change

I had my first one done at 4,000 miles, next one at 12,000, 19,000, and last one at 27,000. Now I got to use up my 6 free ones from the dealership.

I let the dealership handle mine at 5k, just be sure not to go in blind, oil changes are simple and most folks can learn about what their vehicle needs by doing a small amount of research. Read your owner's manual plus the abundance of information on this site and pick your preference.

From my experience, I would ask what type and brand of oil, as the service department might not have or carry Mopar oil, mine didn't. Needed an oil with MS-12991 rating for my situation, so happens they carried Pennzoil Platinum Euro which carries this rating. The Rotilla they were planning to use, a staple oil for diesel engines, doesn't match the requirements per the owner's manual.
