I have seen 2 types of flashlight holders. The 2nd of the 2 below I purchased. I love the placement but it is just a simple interference fit. I have been in a couple moderate accidents and I can say from experience things in your car fly around. I remember an 89 Tbird rear mirror flying off when I get rear ended. I am worried my mag lite will shoot out like a missile from the 2nd holder listed below. A Mag lite would definitely break a bone if it was flying around after an accident. I am thinking about getting the DV8 mount to replace the Quadratec mount I already have.

Does anyone have the DV8? How secure is the mount. Does it seem like it would hold if you got into an accident. It seems more secure but in a worse location (front vs side).

Has anyone seen any other mounts that are safer than the two listed below?

Word of advice on the Quadratec one. It uses clamping tension of the plastic material with a cross screw going into a threaded metal insert. It easy to overtighten it and pull the insert.

I have the Quadratec holder also. In a impact the door would keep it blocked in place. It may be more of a issue with out doors or aftermarket tube doors. Looking at my D cell Maglite it doesn't apear to have clearance to move forward in to the driver's footwell.

True, BUT....
I found I didn't really need the screw to tighten the fit at all! They fit the seat rails VERY tightly. I did tighten the screw but just to "snug" and no ore.

I ordered the Quadratec mounts based on seeing the link in this thread. l assumed the screw would be on the outside only to find I had to tighten it from under the seat. A bit of a PITA. Then I found it will not accept my Costco source LED "D" cell flashlight, see like it would break. But it accepts my trusty old Maglight just fine so that will stay in the truck.

Is the quadratec flashlight that you can get in the $50 kit decent?

I would assume we could probably get a much nicer aftermarket brand instead for roughly the same price.
