For Me, No More Wheeling at Large Events

14ish. To be fair, I’ve had them for years, and down to 10 wheeling, and this was the very first time. It happened, but it didn’t make me want to go out and buy Beadlocks. Did I consider it? I did. And maybe someday, but they’d need to be pretty light. I certainly wasn’t mad at the wheels. Just part of the day I guess.

Interesting, I was hoping you were going to say they were under 10psi. I have the method 701 wheels with similar bead grip tech and they have been good for me down to 7psi. Granted I have not taken them on a trail like the last stand, yet.

I might take a look a the Icon rebound pro wheel since they are a little lighter, but that is another new tech that has not been proven as much.

The KMC beadlocks I am eyeing are 8lbs heavier a wheel, which might be worth it on the really hard trails.

My teraflex wheels have their version of bead grip, but clearly it’s not a silver bullet. I’m so in love with their air down and valve stem protection, that if I ever go Beadlocks, it’ll be Teraflex Olympus.

I'm avoiding being assessed for being ND/ADHD. Little bit about me (the introvert gonna overshare) I'm a fast reader. Not speed reader, but I can read and comprehend at a pretty damn fast rate. My wife gets pissed when I finish reading something before she does and I move on to the next thing (usually something on the TV).

I am also practically a walking imdb.com. I'm pretty handy at bar trivia (music is my weak spot). Artsy; I was in those "gifted" after-school programs. Probably one of the most well-rounded people. Played sports, band, AP classes, worked on racecars (mechanical), English was my best subject, and my career has been in marketing doing both technical and creative work.

Also, I like building and creating stuff both physically and digitally. Doing athletic things like biking/snowboarding/hiking and intellectual things like reading "smart" books and playing geeky games (not Call of Duty video games). I have a couple new books on typefaces and brand designs, things I geek out on. I can build a racecar (late model stock car, specifically) if I wanted to. If I had the money and a little bit of space in the garage, I'd think about getting the AC Cobra kit car from Factory Five. And I could build a website and document the project with a vlog if I wanted to as well.

But back to my point - the other day I had to take a dumb assessment as part of a job application process. Those don't work for me. The aptitude part is fine, I can do the math and word parts and find the patterns with the best of them. The behavioral part (strongly agree or strongly disagree with that characteristic) is where it goes off the rail for me.

I'm told "oh, just answer the first thing that comes to mind, or answer it at face value. Don't over-think it."

Impossible for me. By the time I've finished reading the question that comes with no context, I've already crafted at least 3 situations where I can answer this question on either side, and as I'm going to the button(s) to answer, keep coming up with more.

One series of questions revolved around following "rules." You should always follow rules. They exist to maintain order. They exist for a reason. Even if you think a rule is wrong, you should never break them. Or something along those lines. Yes and no. Are we talking about rules = laws? Or rules = company policies? Rules = construction codes? Or rules = "best practices"? Speed limits? F**K. It matters. Context matters how I'd answer those questions. Or what about if a company doesn't have a policy but I know the action someone does is ethically wrong? Where was that question?

TELL THEM WHAT THEY WANT TO HEAR! I'm as libertarian as they come and will argue against and therefore ignore most rules and/or laws. As a commercial/ industrial electrician in the silicon Valley going on 3 decades I've likely taken more than 100 of these dumb questionnaires in order to work in the various tech headquarters and research facilities, not to mention all the schools and data centers and chemical plants, etc. I've never failed one despite the fact that I disagree with pretty much any of the blanket statements they use. You know what the corporate hr lacky wants you to say so check that box and move on.

Very true, I can say most in my last profession many fit the s###head, untrustworthy or undependably. More than a few of them would be drinking while out on trail even. Several had Jeeps most were "Mall Crawlers" a trail to many was a dirt road or gravel road.
On scuba diving, I've heard so many excuses of why someone doesn't or won't try scuba diving. A big one is many are afraid of their personal responsibility for what they do not able to pass the buck of responsibility. A few who have said they were certified scuba divers then decided after going to a dive site then wouldn't or didn't have a clue of they were doing or were "bar divers". One in particular just wanted to go to bars and to hung over to dive. Why I can count my friends I actually know on one hand. I'm sure I could depend on more here than 99% of the people I've worked with in last 20 years. At least one on this forum is on my list of friends that I know.

Regarding scuba, I’m certified, but haven’t gone often enough to remember the ascent charts, and depth to time charts. Happy to go, and definitely happy to take responsibility for myself and dive partner, but wouldn’t go as the dive leader. I’d buddy up with someone who doesn’t more often. But definitely wouldn’t have alcohol in me before a dive. That’s nuts.

I have the rebounds and so have another guy I have wheeled with. No issues below 10lbs ..8lbs so far. Only thing I don't like about them is they are just 8.5" wide.

Mine aren’t much different at 9”,and this is the very first time I’ve had issues with them. I won’t lie though. I’m considering at some point next year getting some Beadlocks for dedicated wheeling trips. I’d leave these on for camping and any other trip that isn’t exclusively wheeling. Especially anything with a trailer involved.
