Fox 2.0’s on Mojave?

Blasphemous, I know but hear me out.

I have a 2021 Mojave that has the annoying squeaky shocks. With Fox’s6-8 week turn-around time, being w/o a daily driver is not happening.

My question is: what negatives am I missing by throwing on a set of Fox shocks from a Rubicon?

I know the bolts are larger on a Mojave so maybe different bushing? Or add a spacer to the shock mount?

There are usually take offs on the forum from Mohaves. If it were me, I’d have two sets so fox can have all the time they need. I’d not downgrade shocks on a Mohave. With the same springs, it might create issues.

I was leaning towards that or just having a local shop do the rebuild.

I’m sure the shipping to and from Fox would be a second mortgage. Or a tank of gas! ?

I don’t have a Mohave, but a friend does. They’re just so good. Hate to screw it up. I’d check the local shops for take offs as well. One in my area said they had two sets at one point. The rubicon 2.0’s also might be different lengths.

I would search here for Mojave shocks for sale.. I recall seeing them in the past posted up. Interesting yours are squeaky.. so far I'm good. Meanwhile turn up the radio

just looked alittle bit and am seeing people putting mojave shocks on sports and no mention of bolt size issue. i don't see why you shouldnt just buy a set of the cheapest gladiator shocks you can find close by and swap them out while yours get rebuilt. not sure i would worry about rubicon. just cheap they will all get you down the road

The bolts are different. It’s all over the forum. But more importantly, they should be the same length. I’m not sure rubicon takeoffs are. And for six to eight weeks of waiting, the wrong length could be frustrating at the least.

Okay just did a tiny search and found a few posts of people bolting on mojave shocks onto a sport said they did it in 15 mins and didn't talk about bolt changes.

Putting them on with smaller diameter bolts is a great way to add slop, noise, and parts wear. I hope people aren’t doing that.

I’ve seen plenty of posts where people are using bushings to resolve the diameter issue.

Check the bushings on your shocks. I had a rear 'squeaky shock' that ended up being the upper shock bushing rubbing on the frame mount. I realigned the bushing and no more squeak.

I also had some slight noise that was fixed by applying silicone grease to the shock shafts. I did that about a year ago and they are still silent.

I did spray silicone on the shafts w/ no luck but I just read today that applying silicone grease vs the spray might be a better option.

These were marked sold but thanks for the heads up.

I think either having second set or having a local shop do the rebuild might be the better option. Maybe even both options.

I’m gonna keep looking to see what I can find.
