Haha thanks for the chuckle - yeah good point, I'm usually pretty slow but some of the roads here are just full of washboard.

How hot does MOAB get in the shoulder seasons? too hot for the fridge to stay in the bed?
I went to Colorado last July. Driving through Kansas was a mess. I wasn’t sure if my goal zero was overheating or what but it wasn’t able to stay at temp.

Had to move the goal zero inside the cab and run an extension cord from the cab to the bed.

My goal for this years trip is to do the hot heads hardtop liner and floor boardsjust to keep myself from melting. That’ll def help with having the fridge in the back.

Should help with not straining the Jeep battery as much either.

I was concerned of the heat as well. I started with the padded cover that attaches to the fridge with velcro. Then I added the SmartCap. No problems in South Georgia heat. Keeping the direct sunlight off of the fridge is the best idea.

I have the RLD cap but it can get hot back there if the temps hit triple digits. That's not super common in higher elevations though. My snomaster did fine in the heat in the past but it went through power fast. I'll be really curious to see how this engle does. Hopefully it uses significantly less.

I have learned from regular coolers to put them in the shade, same heat but out of the direct sunlight and your ice will last much longer.

With the ARB out of the direct sunlight, I expect the battery to last longer and the freezer won't have to work so hard.

So I weighed the slide last night and wow its heavier than expected. 38 pounds…. I should have asked for soecs before buying since its pretty expensive. I also dont really like how much wider it is than the fridge and the sides come up a good few inches.

So looking back at Engle site today I saw this
https://8020.net/addoncomponents/gravityrollercomponents.html

It got me thinking about other threads and discussions and so I also found this
https://www.accuride.com/en-us/prod...de-with-latch-disconnect-lock-in-and-lock-out

Thinking about extruded aluminum, I explored this site
https://8020.net/catalog/category/view/id/4/?dimensions=5563

It has me wondering if i can make my own slide using that engle slide lock posted above. It would also eliminate the need for tie down straps

not sure how the extruded alum would hold up. My guess is fine based on culdbbi previous discussion in another thread

So I used a 50lb load in the center of the bed, neglected the weight of the aluminum and the 1010 is totally fine. I then worked backwards to find the maximum point load, or load per foot. Turns out this would be about 190lbs in the center or about 76lbs/ft.

Now that is assuming just one piece of extruded aluminum, and you are going to have to build a frame to set the tubs/containers on, so you should be plenty good.

As for affixing they have a ton of clips and such. I would look outside of Amazon, like https://8020.net/ and see what they have first, then you can see if you can find them on Amazon.
