Ive used Opti-lube XPD in my various diesels for several years. Especially my common rail Powerstrokes, because the pumps are sensitive to lubrication and corrosion/water entrainment. How about this Jeep diesel im fixin to recieve in a few weeks? It has the basic same type if injection and with the fuel being half crap now a days, plus these pumps are not exactly "special". Think an occasional add of XPD will be ok ? Any others using a fuel enhancement?

I used two-stroke TCW3 oil (half ounce per gallon) in my 2006 Duramax to lubricate the fuel system when they removed the sulfur from the fuel. It appeared to work well. It was quieter running after I started adding it to the fuel. I traded it in for the Gladiator in 2019.

I use Hotshot EDT in mine… haven’t had it long enough to tell if it’ll make a difference or not.

Stanadyne and PS. Silver PS for warmer months, white (winter) and currently using Stanadyne performance bottle (blue label). Cant say if it runs any better as my Jeep is not quite a month old but its good insurance. I know manufacturers had to change components to accommodate for ULSD but meh, doesnt hurt to add and its pretty inexpensive if you do the math. I can get 5 fill ups out a PS 1L bottle and about 4 with my Stanadyne bottle, both $15 each in Canadaland

I run 2oz of hotshots edt. In every tank. It’s just north of the premium dose per the bottle. Did the same in my diesel zr2

Agreed above 2 Oz Hotshots per fill up for lubrications (easy measure and pour) and I think I will be switching to the Power Service for the winter.

Jeep is not really allowed to make additives mandatory but every fuel pump manufacture recommends it so that was my selling point. Not even $1 / tank so it is really small cost for some piece of mind.

I bought a gallon of OptiLube Summer and a gallon of Optilube XL and mixed them 50/50.

The summer has everything that XPD does EXCEPT any kind of anti-gel, it just gets the job done with a 1280:1 ratio instead of XPD needing a 128:1 ratio (only takes 1/10 of a dose of summer). Summer also gives up a little in lubricity to XPD, so...

The XL is basically just a lubricant. It's used to make up the deficiency in the Summer blends lubricity. This one is speced to run at a 640:1 ratio.

The 50/50 (summer/XL) ratio, I run at a 768:1 ratio, or 3 oz to a tank (18 Gallons) of fuel.

Between the two, it's higher concentration (use a lot less per tank => cheaper), still offers good lubricity, only gives up anti-gel. It doesn't get very cold where I live, so I think I can rely on the anti-gel built into the winter blends from the pump.

I run this in my Duramax as well, as they both have the Bosch HPFP.

I run HotShots EDT when I run out of Optilube, as its easy to find locally. I think the Optilube quiets the injectors down a bit more than the EDT does. But 2 gallons of Optilube lasts me quite a while.

The "new" diesel is very dry, ie. low sulpher, these additives are supposed to help give some lubricity to your fuel to help the inner parts of the high pressure fuel pumps. Very tight tolerances, no tolerance to crap fuel or water/condensation. The fuel distributors say they put something in the fuel to compensate, but with several thousand dollars worth of fuel system, I dont take the chance

Any advise on what to use? Living in Wisconsin would I use one blend for summer and another for winter? I see a few options in the thread, just curious as I am the kind of person that would buy the same brand in the summer and winter blends.

I like and use XPD made by Opti-Lube, check their website. I use it because it placed #1 on testing done several years ago. There are a lot of others: Stanadyne, Hot Shot, etc

Currently switched from Stanadyne Performance to Power Service winter formula and the truck idies smoother in my opinion over Stanadyne. This could be the truck gaining mileage on a newish motor or PS does allow it to run quieter. Anyways, its around $2-3 per fill up, good insurance as we have -8 to -10 weather coming this week in the mountains.
