You could use Jeep's wide axles and have the body be full width with no flares. That would add 4 to 6 inches of interior cabin width.
And it would be a full size and just as limited off road as a power wagon that's already available. And if they didn't add the v8 and diesel options of the power wagon it would be even more limited.

I have one I’m starting to restore this summer. Wagonmaster offered me a purdy penny for it.

Lucky!!! Kinda don’t like you right now. :CWL:
This would be a thread worthy resto if you have the time to snap some shots. It’s a Gladiator so legal to post a lengthy thread here on it. I love seeing old steel coming back to life.

Its gonna be a job for sure.

The worst part (for me) is cleaning the rat chit out of the cab, many years worth !

Shop vac and a respirator. After you get every spec out bleach the whole thing down. Rats and mice like the smell of their own poo and WILL return unless sterilized to the max. I’m assuming you’re going to have to repaint the interior anyway so shouldn’t hurt a thing.

The JT is a perfect size for what it is………
I think 99% of Jeep Gladiator owners would agree with you.

If you make it into a fullsize and still want the doors & hardtop to come off… do you realize the amount of re-engineering would need to be done to accomplish that?
And…have the same towing capacity as all the other fullsize trucks?
It’d cost a fortune!!!
Most of us who want a full-sized Jeep truck don't necessarily want the doors to come off or the roof panels to come off. We just want a utilitarian Jeep truck, just like what was offered in the 1960s and 1970s. For example, look at the 1970 Jeep Gladiator below.

I’m not gonna ruin a shop vac. I plan to open both doors, pull the seat out and hit it with a powerwasher. Then winch it onto a trailer.

I might even pull the motor right there and leave it. I don’t know the status of the engine and will just buy a new instead of a rebuild attempt.

Most likely have the whole thing sand blasted.

Haven’t developed a plan yet

And that’s a sweet truck….
You mentioned you want a utilitarian jeep truck…. So, what exactly do you want that is DIFFERENT from any other fullsize?? Since you don’t want the doors/top to come off.

The cheapest way for them to accomplish a fullsize Jeep truck, would be to take a RAM rolling chassis and everything else mechanical & tech about it, and slap a Jeep looking body on it.

Just buy a Ram….

I know what you’re saying and I agree… It’d be cool for a lot of vehicles to look like this -or-that Or function like this-or-that. But…. those little differences that we want cost A LOT of money to design, engineer, and manufacturer. There’s gotta be a lot of sales to financially make it worth that effort. I mean…we’re all trying to get Jeep to put a V8 in the Gladiator. Shouldn’t be much effort for them to do it. However..if it were that easy, we’d probably have one by now. 😉

I want Jeep to build their own truck. I don't want a rebadged Ram. I want a different frame, different suspension, different cab, etc.

Jeep can't do that and be successful. They need to be their own identity with their own DNA. Just like the Gladiator will not be a rebadged Dakota.

Just buy a Ram….
Again, there is an interest in Jeep joining the full-sized segment. Yes, Ram, Ford, and GM are the big players in the full-sized truck segment, but what would happen if Toyota finally decided to build a HD truck? Or, what if Hyundai or Kia decide to join the half ton market? I don't want Jeep to fall behind when they were part of that full-sized segment for many decades.

Right now, the Jeep Wagoneer is one of the worst selling vehicles on the market. The Dodge Hornet is a bad selling vehicle. The Dodge Charger EV turned out to be a bad selling vehicle. Stellantis has wasted billions of dollars on vehicles that won't sell, that are doomed to sell or have already been discontinued. They need to go back to the drawing board and build vehicles that consumers want.

Personally, I think they're just out of touch with what the customer base wants or just plain do not care. I thought the Wagoneer was awesome...until I saw the price tag. Same with the Wrangler 392...until I saw the price tag. I'm not an engineer, so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but with these companies doing v8 installs for crazy money in Gladiators, you can't convince me that Jeep couldn't do a smaller v8 for very little cost increase. Cost goes way down when it becomes production and I bet they already have a 5.4 engine/transmission option that would be basically plug and play without major redesign requirements. Just my opinion. I don't think they will ever make a full size truck since it would compete with the RAM, but I do think it would be awesome if they did and definitely something I would have interest in if it didn't come with a 100k price tag. I would also be happy if they didn't and would grant Jeep owners long time wish of an affordable v8

I know it will never happen, so let me get that out of the way, but....what if Jeep made a "scaled up" Jeep Gladiator full size truck with full size truck towing capability and payload, v8, expanded interior space, with the same Jeep aesthetics and off road capability? Same rugged interior/exterior design, removable top, etc. Would you buy one? Personally, I love my Gladiator, but yes, I would absolutely be interested
Someone already built one.

That was true under Carlos Tavares as CEO. Thankfully, the current head of Jeep, Ram, and Stellantis all worked under Sergio Marchionne. Sergio actually did a good job giving customers what they wanted. As a matter of fact, Sergio was the reason why we have the Jeep Gladiator, Hellcat, EcoDiesel, and so many other successes.

Just my opinion. I don't think they will ever make a full size truck since it would compete with the RAM,
If you think about, Jeep and Ram are not in competition with each other. Essentially, they are on the same team. While a full-size truck might pull some sales from Ram, it's still better for Stellantis as a brand.

The Gladiator pulls sales from the Wrangler, but the Gladiator also brings a lot of new people to the brand. The Dakota and Gladiator will compete with each other, but they will be different enough to be standalone platforms and cater to their own independent crowds.

In other words, I think Stellantis would consider a full-sized Jeep because they would rather compete with Ram than lose sales and customers to Nissan Titan, Toyota Tundra, Ford F150, GMC Sierra, and Chevrolet Silverado.

For example, Ram is now coming out with a full-sized SUV in 2028 because they are losing sales and customers to other large SUV manufacturers. They aren't worried about pulling sales from the Jeep Grand Wagoneer.

😂 Damn… makes me wonder what that man does for a living. Holy Shit…. that probably cost more $$ than my house (and I have a 4 bedroom house)!!!

It’s neat as shit……. I’d need an elevator to get in it!! 😊

Sure….. Let Jeep mass produce it….. or even a smaller variation of it…nobody could afford it!!

Wait….Miles to the gallon? Or gallons to the mile? 😁

I will say the Jeep brand thrives because of its off-road prowess and removable body parts for Wranglers and Gladiators. It's a fun vehicular Lego for adults that can go places most vehicles cannot.

If a full-size can stick to the formula, it may be interesting. And it would need to stick to the formula to separate itself from Ram.

This. I'm tired of the roof leaks with the Freedom Top - so much so that I'm planning to buy a single-piece aftermarket top.
