So far the only thing that seems goofy is I cant scroll off my position to an area that would be otherwise off screen.

I'm curious if you can do anything off the infotainment screen or everything has to be done on your phone and the infotainment screen is just a display.
it's odd, when on apple car play the screen works the exact same as the phone screen does.

I feel like that's how it will eventually work.

As I was reading the features list it does mention you will not be able to scroll off the area still showing your location. It seemed this might be an Android Auto requirement that might apply to all GPS type usage. Must be a perceived safety issue as you should probably be doing this type of heavier usage while not possibly driving.

This type of limit seems to be across other usages such as scrolling through Tidal with Android Auto I can only navigate a few screens before it clamps down and stops allowing further progression.

Definitely not the case with other AA mapping apps - Maps and Waze at least.

Music apps, yes, there is a scroll limit before you get a 5s timeout.

I'm going to stick with my iPad mini. I have a butt load of vehicle/overland apps on the iPad I use anyway. Being a bifocaled old fart I like the apps on the tablet rather than on my phone. Last little 2 week trip I had the Off Road Guages on the infotainment system and had Gaia on the iPad most of the time.
