Well I took my2023 Gladiator two months ago for the gas burping out after filling the tank. The service dept. replaced the filler neck. The first fill up after that was fine but from then on it was sporadic. I tried holding the gas nozzle out a ways, holding the nozzle upside down (a suggestion by the service manger),trying different pump speeds and different gas stations and it still burps up gas most of the time. About 3 weeks ago I took it back to the service dept. with the same complaint. I got the Jeep back and they said nothing showed up on the scan and the mechanic filled it with gas (with my permission)and said it did not over flow. On the paper work they charged me $35.00 for gas and $15.95 for labor. When I paid I thought the total was just for the gas and when I got home and looked at the paper work I realized they had charged me for labor.I called them and asked them why I was charged labor since this was a warranty issue and the service manager said it was not covered since they did not find anything and they had to pay the mechanic for his time.I then called Jeep Cares and explained the situation and that this should have been a warranty case, the gentleman said he understood but he could not get my money back. He suggested I take it to another dealer and maybe they would not charge me if they to could not find anything wrong.I know $15.00 is not a lot of money but why should I pay for a problem that is Jeeps mistake. I paid over $50,000.00 for this truck why should I have to live with gas running down my fender possibly ruining the paint when this is obviously a poor design by Jeep.Calling Jeep Cares was a joke they should call it Jeep Sucks, they did absolutely nothing to help.Other than replacing the filler neck is there another fix that can be performed? This is my first Jeep product as I have always been a GM guy and I am starting to get a bad taste in my mouth with Jeep. Sorry for the long rant but this is very aggravating.

It's probably a venting issue.......I've seen this specifically with Kia and Toyota vehicles. The Kia had a defective charcoal canister that was coming apart inside pugging the air return from the tank. The Toyota FJ had the air tube to the charcoal canister plugged with dust....I blew i out and it was good.

You would think that someone could look at the hose routing, blow some air through the tubes and diagnose the issue? I have had issues with my local Jeep dealer where if it's not easy and obvious, they just say couldn't duplicate and send it, but the Ram dealer actually did the work and got it handled for me.

I'm just a dumb drivetrain mechanic and I can figure it out without all the documentation the dealer have at their fingertips.......

I've had this happed several times with my '23 JTM, but the issue appears to be the pump and not my Jeep; as where it does not happen everytime I fill up.

Might still be worth exploring.....more to follow

Had mine replaced about 3-4 months ago and haven’t seen it come back, that said, it shouldn’t happen regardless. If you’ve tried different pumps then I’d maybe have a different dealer check it out. Warranty warranty warranty.

my jeep liberty burps and splashes you with a LOT of gas. I just stand back or stop way before full. they had a recall repair but local dealer would not honor it. still does it.
News flash! "man lights self on fire filling up jeep" film at 11!
Jeep dealerships suck.

Keeps my truck clean, because I normally stop at the power wash after a fill up. 🤣💦

Mine did this a few times, typically only at Sam’s Club, and stopped. Randomly. Nothing done on it and couldn’t reproduce it back when it was doing it. No idea why it started nor why it stopped. The venting issue makes sense to me though.

Getting charged for a warranty job where they weren’t able to reproduce the problem seems like complete garbage. However, it may be $15 well spent to find out what kind of operation you are dealing with.

Same here. It happens to me approximately 10 to 20% of the time I fill up.

Don't know about Gladiator system
but on my 2009 Chevy Silverado 2500HD
the EVAP canister was mounted low and to the rear.
It clogged easily with dust and could cause burping.
GM came out with a relocation kit
tucking it up in front of the fuel tank.
I was too cheap to buy one
and simply disconnected the EVAP canister.
Only solved the problem briefly.

Happens with my '22 Overland. If I ram the gas nozzle as deep as possible into the filler tube, it usually stops the issue. I typically stand close when filling and when I hear the filler tube 'back filling', I immediately manually release it. It's a PITA, but it works. But if you don't time it right, gas all over the fender. When that happens I give it a quick clean up with the bottle of Windex I keep behind my drivers seat. (Have to keep the Windex handy since the aerodynamic windshield is a bug magnet). I also keep that part of the fender heavily waxed.

Ok there’s one way that might happen due to owners error, that involves “topping off” when you’re filling up, trying to round up to the next dollar amount, that can become a habit. But what that does is actually add so much gas the anti- evaporation system gets full of gas that could cause issues. There’s actually a warning in the owner’s manual in just about every vehicle on the market. This is only posted for information and not about shaming. Good luck!

I have a 23 as well and mine does it periodically. It has done this since new. I have tried to determine if the vent is clear as well as other possible fixes with no luck. I mean come on, the filler neck is a simple device, it's a tube! The dealers are worthless, and I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt here. I cannot understand how a company can build cars with so many problems, but Jeep seems to have accomplished it. I love my JT but will not buy another one so long as Stelantis owns Jeep. This company seems to be trying to adopt the Chinese model of building junk, but then selling it at high prices. Good luck to you.
