I have a 3rd gen eco and have around 63k miles. I'm almost at the point going the tune route. But I hear hangups on GDE and fuel dilution. I watched videos from multiple tune specialist calling their tune lazy. Mr Tunes/ EOC hangups are the legality and puts more stress on the already weak bottom end of the motor. This what I've gathered from forums and videos. The plus side is better mpg as diesel where I live is super high $. Better acceleration is also a bonus. I daily my jeep driving 25 miles to work and 25 miles back. Weekends I like to hit the trails. Pull a 4k lbs trailer 8 times a year. Any suggestions from the guys that has these tunes would be appreciated.

What it boils down to is this. If you want to stay EPA legal. It's the GDE tune. If you want to delete. It's EOC/MrTune.

The EPA's definition of "full useful life" is 10 years or 120,000 miles for the Gen 2 EcoDiesel. The Gen 3 EcoDiesel is 15 years or 150,000 miles. GDE offers a delete tune (AfterLife Tune) for those vehicles. If you already have the GDE Compliant Tune, then you're able to get the AfterLife tune for $200 bucks when the times comes. It's important to me that I follow federal laws, so my 2015, 2020, and 2023 EcoDiesels are all 100% bone stock and will remain that way until they reach full useful life. Now that my 2015 is 10 years old, I will be switching to the AfterLife Tune.

So would you get the GDE tune until afterlife? I would really like a regen notification and little better mpg. Though like stated before the fuel dilution with thier tune is an issue that's been popping up.

I have the GDE Compliant Tune on my 2015 Ram and like it, but I'm happy with stock tuning on the 2020 Ram and 2023 Jeep Gladiator. Otherwise, I would get the GDE EPA tune until I was eligible for the AfterLife. Lots of guys on the Ram forum are running the GDE Compliant tune with no issues and are happy with it.

WTF is the GDE Afterlife Tune? I guess they can delete the vehicle after the deemed useful life period has elapsed?
The Afterlife Tune can be customized to be either a Stage 1 or Stage 2 delete. But yes, it is intended for vehicles that have exceeded their 'full useful life' period. States like California are not going to allow the removal or tampering of emissions controls regardless of age, but most states follow federal guidelines.

My Ram ran MR Tuning from the day I bought it at 90k to the day it burned to the ground at 445k.

Never had an issue, did go back and have them turn off the swirl valve runners at some point.

Interesting. If I would have known that, I might have went for GDE over EOC. But the political winds have shifted from when I first bought. But prolly by the time I get to 15 years or 150,000 the winds might shift again. I probably bought correctly then.
