Genesis dual battery issues

Deleted member 28696

The issue I had with the Uconnect was after the Genesis issue was resolved. I had just not let the Uconnect boot up fully. The issue with the Genesis install is with the 2021 models where if you do not leave that negative cable attached the Jeep will be completely dead, no lights when you open the doors or anything, because your electrical system is not grounded properly.
I have a 2021 JTR & have had no issues leaving the second ground disconnected. Maybe it was the way I did it. I left the ground to the body in place & used it to ground the system. Haven’t had any issues yet fingers crossed.

I was told that at some point in the 2021 production year Jeep changed the wiring. It is mentioned in the new install video from Genesis. May even depend on what options you have on the Jeep.

Hey all, just installed this kit in 2021 Willys. Had the “dead” issue so I checked out this thread and went and grounded the Aux battery cable that the Genesis video tells you to stow away. Fired right up. 10 minutes into driving the “service electronic stability control” warning and light came on, “service electronic throttle control” warning and light came on, RPMs went all over the place, check engine light came on. Luckily I was just down the road from my house as pressing the gas pedal to the floor barely did anything. All connections are tight, checked all fuses and wiring. Where did you guys ground the aux battery cable? Any ideas what it could be?

When you installed it did you tape up the ground terminal from the small battery?

also check out 22:13 in this video.

Also worth checking, is the green light on and in auto?

Yeah, I had it wrapped in black tape the first time. Tucked under the fuse box. I’m guessing that the auxiliary battery negative cable needs to be grounded to body. The green light was on and in auto. I emailed Genesis. Waiting for response.
