Hey!
Sounds you had a great time! Good you could enjoy it.
Autobahn is good, if there they are free of traffic, but with the gladiator on 35s I did never exceed 100 mph (160km/h). It’s not a racer.

Yeah, if you can make contact that would be awesome, and if they got something, let’s see.

Hey
There are no aux switches, and I know already these are pricy and lots of work to get them in, but that would be ok.

yeah, the alternative would be lockers locall, but will cost me really a lot of money to get this done here. There are not a lot of shops doing this.
The axles I would swap myself, I think.
Gas and diesel only have the gear ratio different, I think the EcoDiesel 3.73 can be moved over…

just ordered the Metalcloak rear track bar and rear sway bar upgrade last week.
Need to have a look for the apex parts and we thought to maybe upgrade the rear sway bar, but let’s see after first tour :)
My JTR had no auxiliary switches either, so I went with an S-Pod. Incredibly versatile.

Did some things on the weekend.

installed the AEV3 inch springs, only rear, as I did not want to align front wheels (it’s not so easy first to get an appointment and 2nd to find a garage being familiar with track bars and solid axles..)

Mai this resulted in quite some rake, as the rear came up 4cm (1,5inch) as it’s unloaded and the springs are rated for 600lbs constant load.

Then installed the Metalcloak rear adjustable track bar and mostly centered axle (it’s partly guessing how much you need when tires are in air vs on ground) as you know by lowering the jack it moves to driverside.

and then, as 2nd box from Metalcloak with rear sway bar reinforcement plates did not show up, we added the chargebooster and installed 2nd battery temporary.

it’s 140 Ah lithium battery and a 30 amps charger.
The battery can be monitored through an app, so I do not need any monitors or stuff…

we will connect a fuse block to battery to splice up the ModCap cables as well as install 12v connection for fridge.

So far, so good

Then I tried to code some things with JScan, with semi success.
The BFG K02‘s are 35s, but only got a measured height of 85cm, so so it’s a 33.5???
Added that.
Then max tire pressure is at 1.72 bars, and as warning will be on at 25% less value, we can air down to 1.4 bars if needed.

tried to make the door chime when door open go away, did not find it.

tried to kill chime findest belt warning disappear, did not work.

So, not sure what I did wrong, but…. Let’s see again.

That looks good with some rake.

Carport has a pretty low ceiling...May limit any further lifting ;-)

We have to increase it by 8 inches so that mod cap fits :)

but it’s already not low for German proportions.
Same the garages, usually drive in height is 2.10m -> 82.6 inches…

Ours is even lower at 2 m height….

I recall just how small those German garages were. I had a single-car garage in Mein Berheim once. Parked my Pontiac Trans Am in it. I could barely open the door! When I moved to another town, I rented part of a barn and FINALLY had some room!

Good Morning into new week!

Friday was the day, finally we could pickup the Gladiator with the ModCap installed.

great!!

Friday evening we installed the water tank and the lower filler panel from @813 Fabrication & Design, really great piece and if I would have read the instructions, Jeremy would not have to support… anyhows, he did, and it’s making the rear looking as it should have from Alu-Cab.

the rake is still there, the rear fender corner is 110cm or 43,3 inches above ground, the old 2,5 springs were at 108cm/42,5 inches with empty bed.
So AEV 3 springs do exactly what they should, just need to fit them in front, but after the trip next week, due to need of alignment otherwise.

we started as well to fit stuff to the floor and connect 2nd battery.
As I ordered 2 wrong profiles (wrong nut insert size) we could not finish the seat bank in front of water tank.

still nice!!

More updates shortly!!

Wow, das Bettoberteil ist wirklich cool!!! Ich mag es sehr.

I admit, I had to use my Apple translator app to help me with “bettoberteil” which may or may not be used in actual German 😅

Looking great, Simon!

PS I thought of you today when in Ramstein. I stopped to top off at a gas station and they had American license plates but with German/European names on them and one of them had “SIMON,” though I admit I don’t recall which state it was. There was Arizona, North Carolina, Washington, etc. lmao

hey
That’s cool. Usually the truck drivers like to have these plates in their windshield with their name on it.
But I did not see US state plates with the names, good idea.

the word Bettoberteil is basically correct and I just try to think now how I introduced it to our neighbors, I think I just said „Zelt“ = tent 🥳

today the 2nd Frontrunner table for rear door should show up, first was damaged and then tomorrow hopefully last bits, so that we can build stuff on Friday and start Saturday :)

I like the color of the MOBY MOUNTAIN rooftop tent. It blends in with the landscape.

Disable door-open and seatbelt chime

- This disables the chimes, but does not disable the warning lights
- I have not figured out how to disable the seatbelt warning light (constant, not flashing)

The rest of this reply is for disabling regulatory functions (or keeping them enabled), including door-open and seatbelt chimes.

If anyone notices a function that is missing from this list, please DM it to me and I'll add it to the list. At least some of these functions can be managed using a Tazer or similar device. Each of the following options is free.

Disclaimer: Do these at your own risk

- This disables the chimes, but does not disable the warning lights
- I have not figured out how to disable the seatbelt warning light (constant, not flashing)

Disable Engine Stop/Start (ESS)
5 ways to TURN OFF/ELIMINATE Auto Stop Start on a Jeep Wrangler JL, JLU or Jeep Gladiator JT
- I did option #2 (disconnect the hood sensor)
- The sensor is one of two hood sensors located in the front of the engine compartment, and is the one closer to the driver side (the other one is for everything else)
- I sealed both ends of the disconnected cable with electrical tape
- Last year, a Jeep service tech took it upon himself to remove the tape and reconnect the sensor; I have added this sensor to my short list of "do not touch" instructions

Disable horn and lights when using key FOB to lock doors
- In touchscreen Settings, go to Doors & Locks and adjust the settings
- Flash Lights with Lock = Off
- Sound Horn with Lock = 2nd Press
- Sound Horn with Remove Start = Off
- Remote Door Unlock = Driver Door (2nd press unlocks all doors)

Illumination of headlights before & after entering vehicle
- In touchscreen Settings, the following options are listed under Lights
- Headlight Off Delay = Your preference
- Headlight Illumination on Approach = Your preference
- Headlights with Wipers = Your preference
- Flash Lights with Lock = Off
- This section is provided to show that Flash Lights with Lock is listed in two places

Disable blind spot chime
- In touchscreen Settings, go to Safety/Driving Assistance | Blind Spot Alert and adjust the setting
- I prefer to keep the blind spot (mirror) light alerts enabled

Disable AutoPark

- AutoPark is a safety feature that can engage at below 1.2 mph (except in 4WD LOW) when the driver seatbelt is not fastened and the driver door (not other doors) is opened
- When AutoPark engages, the (automatic) transmission abruptly shifts into Park to stop the vehicle
- AutoPark can be found in the owner's manual under Starting and Operating | Starting the Engine, after Normal Starting

Options:
1. Rigid 3" black seat belt extender (8SS3bl) for Front Driver from SEAT BELT EXTENDER PROS
- It took a little while after I bought it, but I got used to this extender
- The advantage of a (short) extender is that it can remain plugged in
- The disadvantage is that it can be annoying at first
2. Seatbelt clip
See post #3 for photo of metal (only) seatbelt clip
- There is no link to an online seller
- The advantage of a (low-profile) seatbelt clip is that it is out of the way
- The disadvantage is that it needs to be removed to wear your seatbelt

Functions Not Disabled

I have not disabled "sound horn 3 times (and unlock driver door) when key FOB has been left in vehicle". I carry a spare (metal-only) key, but I prefer to keep this function enabled.

Thank you.

Disable door-open and seatbelt chime

its only described how to disable seatbelt chime, and this works for me.
its important for us, as the dog is with us in rear and so I don't want the chime all the time, we usually use seatbelts....

but how to disable the door open chime?

Some more updates from yesterday‘s work:

battery still got to be placed, but first I have to remove everything, and install drive-in nuts from bottomside of wooden plate to „fix“ everything on it.

I ordered some other product from 813, will install when we are back from the trip!

The first disable action listed (seatbelt) should disable both the door-open chime and the seatbelt chime.

I wouldn’t bother getting rubicon differentials. Yours are plenty strong. Just get lockers if you need them.
