I gotcha. I like the stock height of the Gladiator, I think it's very appropriate for a midsize truck. Now I wish I didn't tell the dealer to come meet me on Sunday to deliver it to me LOL. I didn't want to mess with his Easter Sunday (which he said he forgot about), it's also not legal to sell cars on Sunday, stupid relic laws.
He’ll probably just backdate the paperwork to Saturday lol. Gotta sell that vehicle lol. Tough times out there for business lol.

What to look for? An uniformed blunt-object salesman, or a newbie salesman. Then you can get a good deal, because he’s a moron, and you have the upper-hand.

Or, you can have a shitty experience like I did, and end up paying $10 a month less than quoted because of the fucked up parameters of the original deal. :like:

When I was looking at the Sport S with max tow, i was not a fan of the stock tire size. They just look too small .

Dealer offered to bump the Falkens up two sizes for around $300. I think they were 265s

If you are think of keeping the wheels maybe want to ask the dealer about larger tires as part of the deal. Easier to do that now since the stock tires really do not have a market.

Congrats on your lease.

You mentioned possibly getting a headliner and one of our vendors makes a great product that is easy to install.
Here is the link:

I did see that thread and I WILL be getting the hotheads. I've seen plenty of reviews for them and it looks really positive. I'll probably get the full package on them. I'm coming from a Kia Cadenza and I'm used to a really quiet car. I usually have my music on though so I dunno how much of a difference this may or may not make in the real world, we'll see. I also want it for any thermal shielding properties it may impart.

@ZTMAN I like the stock tire size. I know this sounds a bit weird for someone who wants a Jeep, but I like the prospect of possibly a bit more gas mileage with the stocks ;) I have odd priorities :P

@Flexin I will post pics once I get it. I'm too excited not to :D

Hello all,

New to the forums and to Jeep in general, if all works out. I'm working with a dealer right now to lease (please don't beat me) a new Gladiator Sport S. YES I have reasons to lease it and I'll explain that below, if anyone cares. But for now I would like to know if there is anything I should look out for.

I will be going to the dealership on Monday to pick it up and will keep it with me for a day of driving like normal. This drive will include about 45+ miles on the highway (70ish mph) as well as some suburban driving at 40mph with stop lights and stop signs. I'm aware that something I need to look for is numb/loose steering between 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock on the steering wheel, but is there anything else that I should be looking for specifically on the Gladiator?

Anything below here has nothing to do with my question :)

---------Reasoning------------

Just in case someone wants to beat me for saying I'm going to lease a Jeep, let me explain (if you care). I've never owned a Jeep and realize there are sacrafices in owning one that the average person may not like, such as wind noise, possible ride comfort, and other things that come with the Jeep ownership territory. I've been reading about this for years and am finally wanting to take the plunge. I'd like to lease for 3 years to see if it's something that I'd like or will not want to keep doing long term.

I wanted to lease because the payments are much lower than a loan. I'm in a position to where I want to give my current car to my parents so they have something reliable and under warranty and have a year left to pay on it. Getting this lease gets me into a fantastic (I hope) new truck that I've had my eyes on for a while now. I went to the Chicago auto show in 2019 just to see it when it debuted, loved it instantly.

A reason I chose the Gladiator is because I wanted several things that don't necessarily go together. I wanted a convertible, something with a bed, and I wanted it to have 4WD. Those things aren't easy to combine usually, luckily the Gladiator came onto the scene :D As I work in the public safety sector with first responders I have a growing need to be able to get into work if/when I'm called after hours and during inclement weather (snow/ice storms here).

I honestly don't plan on doing too much offroading, though I wouldn't mind going on some easy trails sometimes to have fun with a group. I've never been before and would only go to easy places my Sport S could handle. A Rubicon is a bit much for me as I would never use it to it's potential and it would be a waste.

I think that's about all for now. If anyone has any tips or anything to watch out for please let me know! I really look forwrad to being part of the community.
I am leasing mine and have no regrets. And, I have also customized/upgraded a lot, however everything other than the leveling kit is easily removable, and will be returned back to stock when I am finished. I leased many vehicles (always $0 down) and never a bad experience, and also enjoy the much lower payments. Also like the fact of a new vehicle every 3/4 years.

I know that nobody would really care but I know a lot of people like to deeply customize their Jeeps and I've read a lot of posts about how financing is the only way to go. I just wanted them to know it was a thought out, reasoned decision ;)
The Gladiator was my 5th Jeep and 1st lease. The lease is a no brainer in my opinion and I have thousands of dollars in mine already. Even if you purchased put right and through a ton of money in it....youd take a bath on it if you decide to trade it off in 3 years. Jeeps do retain their value veey well but the stock ones and heavily modded ones don't have a huge swing in price used. I bout my 2014 JKU with lift, 35s and other mods for 1k more thanother similar mileage stock 2014s.

I will likely buy mine at 3 years and if I plan to sell or trade I will do it shortly after when my dealer won't have to pull my credit again.

Anyways, only advise I have is take your time in your lease and find what you want. For instance the LED package from factory is well worth it instead of upgrading after the fact as is the headliner.

Good luck, from a 5 time owner they are a lifestyle and a blast to own!

I didn't think the Sport S could get LEDs other than the tails with the max town. I already found the exact one I want. Sure it doesn't have the safety group in it but I can live without that easy. I would have liked to get the blind spot detection and rear sonar, but not a biggie, I can do rear sonar aftermarket for fairly cheap, and that's just used for if the camera goes out. I have mirrors for the sides :)

To the OP, the people who ask if you bought or leased a vehicle are just being nosy about your finances, screw them. Have a blast... Oh, and post pics!!!!
Mine's a lease...I don't give a shit what people think. I do what I have to do to get by. Most people couldn't even walk 100' out of a mile in my shoes over the last 4 years when it comes to finances...They'd have suck-started a revolver a long time ago. I'm finally digging my way out of the black abyss of debt...Life happens, and there's shit we can't help happening to us.

As far as financing goes do whatever your comfortable with. Stupid people Are gonna judge no matter what. Most of us on here including myself don't care. It's gonna be fun either way. Don't worry about what others think, mod how you want, and finance how you want. Enjoy the ride:rock:

Glad to hear you're coming back from it, I know that's a tough thing watching a few people close to me clawing their way out too. I do what's right for me, not everyone else.

I’m doing it the easy way right now... Lease, mod, pay down a good chunk off the price, once the lease is up, buy the vehicle out with a loan for about $12,000 under current (at the time) used value (not including all the mods), and still be WAY ahead. Especially since the dollar is devaluing and prices are inflating thanks to that $6.2 TRILLION dollars the government just borrowed from the Rothschilds...

So, this means new vehicle prices are going to go up even more...Glad I negotiated hard, got a hell of a deal, and locked my price in a over a month ago. :like:
