Getting P0401 egr code on my 2020 gladiator.

Hey guys! I got rid of P0401 by cleaning both EGR Valve and EGR cooler, I filmed a step by step guide how to do that, hope that helps

After my valve was cleaned the check engine light came back on. So my service advisor thinks that my cooler needs replacing.

The guy in the video reused his crush gaskets. I think they’re one time use and should be replaced.

Yeah, I'd replace them, I just didn't have them anywhere around, but needed the fix asap.

I’m at 43k ish miles (probably idled the equivalent of 60k miles) and this code is starting to pop up.. truck drives fine. Mileage at 65-70mph is 18+ so nothing too amiss. The appt is set for Thursday so we’ll see what they say

Finally got mine dropped off. Scheduling mishaps then rescheduling took a bit.
They ran the code and the SA noted “odd, this says EGR Valve closed position performance impacted” as opposed to something along the lines of “egr failed”

Who knows if that makes any difference but he thought it was weird.

Update to this, dropped off around 1200 yesterday, called around 1 today, no update as “your car has too few miles for this to occur so we are waiting for a master tech to look into it”

needless to say I’m on the way to get a rental.

editing to add: dealership took care of the rental, ended up in a 4xe rubicon that has been great to drive around. Picking up the gladiator today hopefully as the EGR parts get in today. They confirmed it was a complete failure of the system and couldn’t determine why.

Update to this, dropped off around 1200 yesterday, called around 1 today, no update as “your car has too few miles for this to occur so we are waiting for a master tech to look into it”

needless to say I’m on the way to get a rental.

editing to add: dealership took care of the rental, ended up in a 4xe rubicon that has been great to drive around. Picking up the gladiator today hopefully as the EGR parts get in today. They confirmed it was a complete failure of the system and couldn’t determine why.

Do you run a throttle booster?

Got it back today, egr valve failed, which failed hard enough that it clogged up the cooler also. New valve and cooler later (covered under extended warranty) and she’s brand new again.

My cooler was replaced under extended warranty.

Okay after reading this entire thread , and seeing that a relearn or rest of EGR needs to be done after replacing EGR .
Can this reset be done with a JScan

I’m in the same boat. Dealership changed my EGR back in May. Check engine light is back on. Gladiator is a 2020 with 102800 miles on it. Not running great with a lot of lag/power loss. Nothing was done to the cooler. I should hear something today.

I just replaced my EGR valve. What would the next step in the process be? Do I have to get the truck to relearn the new valve or clear the code and leave it?
