Steering wheel heat does not stay on. I press button to start heating, it turns on (green) then 2 seconds later shuts off. WHY? Does anyone know?

p.s. I kinda remember, a while back when it was working, after it did come on and start heating it felt like it was a bit too warm. Could something have finally burned out? (I checked fuse for heated wheel, was OK)

Also, read in a few places that the battery (including the start/stop battery), if it gets too weak you will start having odd things happening?

I'd disconnect battery for a few mins and then reconnect. Might just needs a fresh boot-up. I would just disconnect negative battery terminal for a few mins and then hook back up. If you have your aux battery still you may need to unbolt the 2 negative cables from one another.

I had some confusion in mine after making some changes with the Tazer. I think it kept pulling current and sat for a day and ran down the batteries. Since reboot, all has been fine.

The behaviour you describe sounds very much like what happened with the passenger seat heater in my JT, the cause was a bad heater in the cushion which had to be replaced to fix the issue.

FWIW, my 2024 had the left side of the steering wheel lights out, most of the steering wheel buttons would not work, and the heated wheel/seats would light up and then go out a couple seconds later like you describe.

After restarting via battery disconnect, it's been solid. I had the tazer before I got the JT so that was put in day 1. It's been good for ~3 weeks now.

I have this exact problem on my new ‘24 JTRX. Light comes on and then goes out two seconds later. Fortunately under warranty and have an appointment tomorrow to get it looked at I’ll drop the diagnosis in here after I get it. I’m assuming it’s a bad heating element producing an over current or something and not necessarily the aux battery for me since the Jeep only has 500 miles on it (though it did sit on the dealer lot for close to 300 days…). No other weird electrical issues though so I’m guessing it’ll probably just be a remove/replace.

UPDATE: Turns out it was a connector in the steering wheel that wasn’t fully seated from the factory, they connected it back up and it’s been working great ever since.

I currently have the exact same problem with the heated wheel. Anxiously awaiting what your dealership says. Thank you.

All of you with the steering wheel issue......does your remote start work? I know with my JLUR, the the battery is going bad, the remote start will not work.

Replaced the first battery in '23 and just replaced it again on Tuesday. We've owned it since new in '19 and only has 28k miles.......so the lack of use is probably the cause of the batteries short shelf life.

Interested to see the diagnosis from the Jeep techs, please update when you learn more. For the OP, mine also gets uncomfortably hot so I only leave it on a few mins and only on the coldest days, but have had no issues with it.

If it’s more than two years old and you do mostly stop and go, not many highway trips, I bet it’s a battery issue.

Knock on wood… mine works great too!! 2024 with 5,200 miles on it (owned since March). I’m curious to hear the prognosis.

Went to drop the Jeep today but of course the tech that’s “good at working on the electrical issues” wasn’t working today so it probably won’t get looked at until Monday. More to follow as I find out what the deal is.

They never shut off w/o doing it with switch! Also by the way heated seats lights also yellow???
