It all depends on your situation. If you tow stuff the gladiator makes more sense, if you carry stuff that you can throw in the bed often then it also makes sense. Personally I carry Hockey Gear, Golf Clubs, and luggage more then anything else so its a no brainer the Wrangler is a much better choice for me. Yes I could get a bed cover, ive been there with my Ram 1500, but it isn’t the same. The fact the Gladiator is supposed to cost more is odd, that is all profit, no other SUV based off a pickup is cheaper then the open bed. Although I do understand most of those SUV’s have finished backs and/or 3rd row seats, I still think it should be cheaper or at minimum the same price as the Wrangler.

Figure out what you’re using it for and make your decision accordingly.

Good luck!!!

If you own 2 minivans why would you ask why buy a truck? Im confused by the question I guess. If you need to haul a load of cow crap would you do that in your JK? If you need to run to lowes and buy 40 bags of mulch will you put those in your JL? Dude, its a Jeep thats a truck not posing as a kid hauling mini van and looks the Jeep you walk out your garage door and see. Shhh its a secret.... its got a truck bed! (I kid, as Ive had a couple) but seriously its a T R U C K and thats what Ive sold my wife on. Of course this would be #16 and she didnt have to ask this question.

At the risk of sounding like a jerk...

If you have to ask the question about Wrangler or Gladiator, then you don't need the extra cargo room or towing capacity of a Gladiator. This is for the Wrangler owner that needs extra cargo space or to tow a camper or boat or auto trailer.

And if you are griping about not seeing the Gladiator doing construction work in the ads then you too are looking at the wrong vehicle. The only construction worker that needs a convertible truck is the guy who works for The Village People.

I don’t think you sound like a jerk. I have a Jk...it is too small for my needs now, even though it is awesome off road. The JLU may be big enough, but without having one or using one for an extended period I just don’t know. The gladiator would meet the cargo room needs and have more flexibility of uses. I think it will come down to price. If too high a mark up then going with the JLU, if comparable then would get the gladiator. I’ll just have to wait and be see I guess. I don’t expect this to be or function like a full sized pick up. I know I don’t need that.

Sounds like you should get a gladiator.

I will be buying the gladiator for the sole reason of the towing capacity over the wrangler. The added cargo capacity and the look of the truck are bonuses.
