So I was thinking that I could put some kind of netting or webbing around the sides and back and I'd have a huge dog cage. Throw the dogs in the back and not worry about them jumping out. Anyone do this?

I'm convincing myself I need this.

So the factory mopar trifold tonneau will hit the vertical supports if you attempt to fold it, even with the tonneau brackets, correct?

I don’t think any truck rack can itself be converted so easily into a safe dog cage/crate, but I understand your thinking. My plan is to make a removable cover that will attach under the bars and legs to shade my dog’s Variocage crate from too much direct sun and give her some protection from unexpected rain.

Any ideas for mounting a longer hard-shell rooftop tent on the 18"? It would need to hang over the cab a bit. The 22" with the tonneau brackets would be 24.5" high; looking for something in between if possible. Would some kind of spacer possibly work to push the tent over the roofline?
Exactly how tall is the Gladiator cab above the bed side rails?

That is an excellent question! I don't have my Gladiator yet and have been unable to find that measurement...I am considering going to a dealership with a tape measure to check unless someone here knows?

It looks like around 23in is a good height for having something extend over the cab. The Leitner rack has good clearance (not too high, not too low) and is 23in high from the bed side to the top of their crossbars.

Just to clarify the tonneau brackets fit the factory trifold tonneau? Can someone post pictures of what that looks like, please? Inside view, if you please.
Does it leak in the rain?

My last truck's tonneau always leaked, I don't want this one to start.
