So I'm about to leave work and I remote start my gladiator to warm up (it's a little chilly out). Well... one thing leads to another when I'm trying to leave work it ends up taking about an hour longer than expected to leave. By now the remote start has ended and the gladiator has shut off. As I'm walking out to the Jeep I hit the remote start button. Nothing happens... I try again... still nothing. I then try to unlock and lock the truck. I realize then, my key fob is doing nothing. I'm thinking to myself, "God I hope this thing isn't dead". So I unlock the Jeep with the physical key, and all the lights inside light up. I go to start the Jeep, and sure enough it starts right up. I get out of the Jeep and try to lock it with the Key fob... and nothing happens. I end up driving it home and checking the next day with my spare key to see if the fob will unlock and lock the Jeep.
Come to find out, the normal and spare key fob will not do anything, other than start the Jeep. The unlock/lock and remote start do not work. The red light on the key fob turns on when I'm pressing buttons, but will not do anything. When I'm inside the Jeep, it recognizes that the key fob is inside and will still start without any issue.
I thought "Minor inconvenience but I can live with this", until I realized, when I lock the Jeep from the inside lock buttons, it sets the alarm. So now when I lock my Jeep up and I need to get back in it, the alarm goes off! lol.
Anyways, long story short, I figured I mention this in the forum because, when I called the dealer, and they set up an appointment to re-pair the key fobs. All I have been able to find online was when a key becomes unpaired, the Jeep doesn't start at all because it doesn't detect the key fob. The dealer even seamed puzzled on the phone when I explained everything to them. They tried walking me through a reset, but it didn't work. Anyways, let me
know if I missed something on this forum of the same issue. I tried to do a search, but everything I could find indicated that the key fob was completely unpaired to the point the Jeep wouldn't start. I see the Dealer this Wednesday and I'll let y'all know what happens. Hopefully it is just a re-pair of the key fobs that will fix the issue, but I feel like it might be something more.
UPDATE: Problem has been resolved. Re-pairing the key fobs fixed the issue. Thank everyone for the advise on what to check.
