….and HELLO BDS NX2 shocks! After 73k kms (45k miles) on my 21 JTR, the wife and I were done with the floating, bouncing and just being scrambled in the cab kind of ride on the fox 2.0’s.

Last weekend we had a great time at the Alberta Outdoor (overland) Expo and one vender caught my attention, RAVEN NORTH SHORE that now has a couple shops in Calgary and one point of contention I spoke to the shop representative of my disdain for how my 2.0 FOX shocks performed and after some time listening to what he had to say, I was so impressed with his knowledge of multiple brands of shocks and the characteristics of each, I was sold on the BDS NX2 series shocks and installed them last night.
No more body roll and jostling. The ride is planted and the bounce is gone! After my 10% discount for attending the EXPO, I paid $67 cad each and $80 for the steering stabilizer I’m going to install today.
BDS is a fox owned company and the product is solid and the price point I couldn’t refuse.

Sport Truck USA owns Fox, JKS, and BDS. I’m sure the shocks are great, but run as fast as you can from either BDS or JKS control arms. They’re the same arms with different stickers. Both the fixed and adjustables have major problems with bushings. They abandoned me and refused to stand behind them after two full sets failed. They’re on the floor of my garage collecting dust on the lost money spent on them.

Teraflex is the way. They’ve proven to be a step above the rest, specifically the Alpine IR adjustables.

Good to know. Thanks for that bit of info.
I’ve listened to BDS’s “no fine print” warranty and they have this motto that says ‘put them on and abuse it’, anything that fails is replaced… Why are you getting shafted? Is it just the people you need help from are taking things personal or have stepped outside what the company stands for?

They have a known issue with their bushings. I had to rebuild them repeatedly. They’d only last six to eight weeks before the fixed bushings would move out of the arm housings. After that, one side was metal on metal with the bracket, and the other was rubber on metal. They replaced all 8 arms once, but with no changes in design. I questioned that as a solution, as I didn’t want to keep swapping out control arms every two months or so. After it inevitably happened again, in less than 6 weeks, I left several messages, and sent several polite emails. They ghosted me. No response since June. I ended up replacing them with Teraflex arms. They still refuse to address the problem. The biggest one being the 8 control arms that purchased, that didn’t last even a few months. I’m out around $1000.

BDS has always had a pretty nice line of lower priced shocks that work well. They claim they are specifically valved for the vehicle.

I remember when they had their 5500 shocks. Those were a great buy for the price.

At one point, BDS had a very good reputation. Probably before they were bought out.

Had a 21 Ram 1500 with 6" BDS lift. I had no problems with it but, just keep in mind, their "no fine print" warranty only covers their parts that break. For example, this is the result of an UCA ball joint failure posted on a Ram forum from a couple years ago. Per the OP on this particular thread, BDS stepped up to the plate and sent him a new ball joint. There were a few others during that time who had a BDS suspension failure as well.

Those shocks are your standard twin tube design non-rebuildable. I am sure they will work fine on the road, but if you are running rough road for long periods, the damping may start to fade. They are a price point shock.

The Fox are a mono tube design which is a better design in general, sound like the foxes you had were either valved light or the oil or piston bands started to wear. The good news is those fox can be rebuilt and re valved.

Go talk to a local auto or motorcycle suspension shop to see if they can rebuild them for you or recommend a place. Most larger towns will have some guy who does dirt bike suspension rebuilds out of his garage for locals.

Report back once you have logged some miles ... I switched from the 2.0's to Bilstein and I feel the improvement was notable. The Fox's are valved way too soft.
