Thank you so much for the very detailed recommendations. I’ll have to take you up on those ideas.

I am looking for something like the Goose Gear Bed Plate but would prefer not to spend that kind of money on a bed plate :).
Does anyone know of another brand?
Or if you built one yourself how did you fix it to the bed bolts nylock nuts and washers, rivnuts in the bed?

Thanks.
I love Goose Gear’s products but I do agree that the bed plate is a bit pricey. When building out my overlanding set up, I installed nutserts into the bed and then bolted down 3/4” plywood (sanded, primed, bedliner-ed). Might not be as pretty but certainly was as functional. I did cut reliefs in the plywood for the bolt heads so that they would not snag everything and make for an uneven surface.

Here’s a shot of one side of the bed during the build out:

If I were to do it over/again, I think the only thing I’d do different is I would use 1/2” plywood for the weight reduction. I was worried that it would not properly support the weight placed on it, but I now think it would be fine.

I ended up making one for about $150 plus a couple of hours of time.
$70 for the 5'x5'x1/2" Baltic birch and $80 for enough roll on Raptor liner to do 2 coats on each side.
Does no look as polished as the Goose Gear one but it works and once I put a fridge slide and some other things on there most of it will not be visible anyway.
Where did you find 5’x5’ plywood?

Thanks. Called all over and none of my local timber merchants have 5’x5’ but with the Molle panels 4x8 will be okay.
$156 a sheet for Baltic birch right now.
still a work in progress but here’s where I’m at right now

Did you do any kind of dust proofing of the holes in the bed for drains? I just got a cap and I'm thinking a plate like this would be good enough but not sure.
I have not done much, but I have not been wheeling in very dusty areas. I did put some sealant between the headboard and alu-cab on either side where it does not sit flush with the top of the bed as water was coming in there every time I drove in the rain. most of teh other holes were already plugged and covered in bedliner when I got it.

Thanks for the measurements! I finally got around to building out a base for my truck but used a 4x8 sheet. It’ll work fine for my purposes.
