Thanks. You worded this far better than I did. I think this needs to be put out to any new Jeep buyer…. I purchased with the understanding that the GG was on the outside and resisted chipping/cracking…. Not the case as you explained.
Kind of a shame to try and up sale on a truely not so great piece of the vehicle.
Sell me on the bumpers, winch, liner, etc…… the $500 on glass just leaves things bitter..

Yup. A year ago it was a $99 upgrade. Well worth it for "what the heck" money. For $500, it had better work.

For what its worth, I've got GG (MY 2022, ordered in Oct 2021 for $199) and suffered many pretty severe stone hits over the winter.

The outer glass is chipped pretty badly but nothing is developing into a crack. Who knows if it would have cracked with a regular windshield, but it did take some pretty hard hits.
